Re: High end audio interface
Another critical feature for linux is the ability to fully control the interface without the software. How many other brands have that? I know my Scarlett doesn't, it's just so popular that a 3rd party GUI was created for it by a member of this very forum. Actually, you can control the Scarlett usi...

Re: High end audio interface
But in this thread you've linked it says that in class compliant mode there's higher latency compared to their proprietary Windows driver. That's very disappointing. How high is "higher"? Most recent processors will run a driver sufficiently fast. Even if the latency is higher, that doesn...

Re: CMake error building Qtractor on new system
If it's from master branch then it may require Qt6. I looked at the qtractor.spec.in file, and though I may have read it wrong, it looks like only QT5 would be supported on Debian/Ubuntu/Mint. %if 0%{?fedora_version} >= 34 || 0%{?suse_version} > 1500 || ( 0%{?sle_version} == 150200 && 0%{?i...

CMake error building Qtractor on new system
Hi all. Just last night I wiped my PC clean and put on a fresh install of Linux Mint 21 (22.04). When building with a script I'd successfully used in the past, I get the error below. I'm pretty certain it is because I just don't have the full complement of development libraries and tools installed, ...

Re: Softening and warming sounds
So while we're on the topic of warm sounds...mathematically speaking, how does one "warm up" a sound? Let's use the example of a 440Hz sawtooth wave...what would you do to warm that sound up?

Re: Softening and warming sounds
Good grief. You would have to own a small power station to run that mixing desk! There have got to be hundreds of tubes in that thing.

Re: JACK - best distribution?
I use Linux Mint and start jack via Cadence from KXStudio. Worked perfectly first try.

Re: kxstudio dependency problems
Is there any easy way to tell what packages were installed via a given repo? For example, how would I answer the question "what packages have been installed via http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-debian/plugins/ubuntu"?

Re: Finally nearing the finish line after 20+ years!
I don't understand why this is important anymore...aren't the real time scheduling features of a non-RT kernel good enough for everything? Seems to work fine for me...I use Liquorix and couldn't be happier.

Re: Focusrite Scarlett Gen 3 4i4 (and others)
When I run alsamixer the only control I have is for the clock source... Can someone fill me in on what I might need to do to get my focusrite to function? I have attempted to disable the memory card mode by pressing 48V and powering on for 5 seconds. If you're unable to use alsamixer and still see ...
