Re: Cinesamples Having Huge Sale

I just heard that the sale has been extended another week. I have never seen a better deal on high-end orchestral libraries. If you just want to pick up one thing, like the Brass library, or even a solo instrument, there may never be a better opportunity.

Cinesamples Having Huge Sale

For those who use Kontakt, check this out. Their libraries all use the free Kontakt Player. I just bought their Orchestra Core library (four libraries actually), for 701.00, tax included. Regular price is 1900.00, pre-tax. They have Cinesymphony Lite for 215, and individual libraries, like strings, ...

Re: Native Instruments annual 50% discounts have begun.

Sure, you don't need kontakt to compose anything. but if I want to hear it, I do need stuff like Kontakt. My preference would be Native Linux for everything, and I hold out some hope it may happen in my lifetime. But that lifetime is fast running out on me, so I need to use what works now. Re: Bodhi...

Re: Native Instruments annual 50% discounts have begun.

What I see in this thread is that some people like Kontakt, and some don't. Well, since we're individuals, not robots, that shouldn't come as a surprise. I don't see the need to diss something, however, just because you don't need or like it. Great multitudes of people like Kontakt, and consider it ...

Re: to help Windows users migrating to Linux

I think technology will eventually get to a point where anything will work on anything. The stuff we have now, like Wine, Linvst, YaBridge etc will evolve to the point where something that was made for windows will just need to be run through some new ingenious program that will render it workable o...

Re: Watch Out For Corporate Espionage and Sabotage and Malicious Hacking

What's more likely. 1. You've been hacked! 2. You've done something stupid and broke your own system. Great point. Perhaps the OP should investigate how to determine, on Linux, that their system has been hacked. In my case, seeing a terminal running and commands being entered, left no doubt that I ...

Re: Watch Out For Corporate Espionage and Sabotage and Malicious Hacking

There certainly are evil people and other entities out there. Including corporations. but the obvious culprits, like Microsoft, already have a monopoly, so why would they waste resources on a few Linux users? no payoff there. And the hackers and lone wolves are primarily targeting windows users. you...

Re: Cockos Reaper with WINE or Cockos Reaper Linux edition (?)

There is nothing wrong with using "Windows Vst and Vsti" on Linux. I don't think anyone suggested that. If it's not necessary to run your whole daw in wine then it's probably best not to. With yabridge or linvst you can run windows plugins seamlessly and, on the whole, very successfully. ...

Don't let people scare you. In the words of Henry David Thoreau, "Go forth confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined" (Walden).

Re: (SOLVED)Trying To Get Valhalla To Work

Thanks Guy! I'll check that out.

I did copy the folder to usr/bin, but I still need to use the amended command. Who knows why. Important thing is I now have two ways to convert vst/i apps. If one doesn't work, maybe the other will.

Re: Cockos Reaper with WINE or Cockos Reaper Linux edition (?)

Do whatever makes sense to you, and works. Native Linux is the best way to go, but the situation is that for some of us, there are things we need "from Windows." I put this in quotes, because I believe that Vst and Vsti are not Windows or Mac apps; they are just apps. If you need to do cer...

Re: (SOLVED)Trying To Get Valhalla To Work

About yabridge, since linvst has already made .so versions, I would make one new unique path, just for testing yabridge, and put some uncomplicated plugins there. Set you daw to see just that unique path, for the duration of the test, then, use the parts below, inserting your new unique path where ...

[quote=ubuntuuser post_id=144491 time=1651377928 user_id=1376 That's just one of the problems that Wine has, hardware interface problems and I think it could possibly be added but it's not a high priority for the people working with Wine. The software Ilok can work (on some systems) but dongles are ...

Are Real-Time Kernels Safe?

According to Ubuntu Studio, they are not: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/RealTimeKernel Is there anything to this? for the record, I'm using Ubuntu Studio, but more because I like it. but if this is true, I'm glad I am! I personally don't need RT, as I just do midi, and latency is no...
