Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

Ok guys, after hours of having fun: It Just Works(tm). Adjusting the effects is still fiddly without a graphic representation (my ears aren't that used to effects that I blindly know what to touch and especially for compressors, a graphic visualization helps me). But that's really my only critique. ...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

I will most definitely test out JACK and the rest. Right now I'm trying to compare my PulseAudio setup that I had with the MOTU with a similar setup and the RME to give it a fair comparison :-) After that has worked over the next weekend extensively, I'm probably going to switch to PipeWire directly...

Re: Greetings from Germany!

Welcome, fellow Linux musician. Do you have the older UltraLite AVB without ESS chips oder the newer one? Do you have channel hopping issues? I seem to have the newer, ESS based version. And yes, there are a lot of problems. Mainly on the out side though. You can find out about my odyssey here: htt...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

Ok guys, it arrived. And thankfully, I can say that: Yes, indeed, all channel strip functions can be controlled just from the rotary encoder and display. After a bit of fiddling I found most things on my own and the few things I didn't find I got from using the manual which is very clearly written. ...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

Let's find out together. I've just bought the Fireface UCX II.

Yes, from pictures and the sparse info that is out there, it looks like it. That way you can also use the DSP when you're doing DURec (direct to USB recording).

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

It's more like there's a hole in the middle. [...] Yup. At the money-is-no-object professional end Digigram [...] and Audioscience [...] have cards with ALSA drivers. It's the interfaces in the middle that are a problem. Now we're talking! I find those to be super interesting and I think one of tho...

Greetings from Germany!

Hi everyone, Although I've already created some threads, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. About me I'm a software developer from the South-Western part of Germany whose (neglected) hobby is music. I used to do quite a bit of mixing for myself and friends and I also liked to play...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

Yes, this is how it works. The UltraLite AVB runs an embedded flavor of Linux and a small webserver to control the DSP. There are official APIs to tap in for several features of these devices an official driver could provide or even a Spec definition that people could program against to write their ...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

You hit the channel hopping issue. Yes, I thought so. :-( I know about Drumfix' patch but since it's not in mainline and is a bit of a hassle I really don't want to depend on it too much. it also hasn't changed for a year now so I'm expecting that the work on it has stalled. I'm definitely not a dr...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I want to chime in and say that PipeWire neither worsens nor betters the situation. It just stays sort-of-random. After having two days of no issues at all, I just got the issue again twice in a row in a distance of 5 minutes. nothing has changed during that time frame, I've even played from the sam...

Re: Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

Hi! Thank you both for your recommendations so far. From what I've read on their site, the RME Fireface UCX II seems like a perfect contender for my use case. DSP can be controlled from the front panel and I can use my Mac / iPad to save a preset if the on-device capabilities turn out too fiddly. Do...

Modern DSP audio interface for Linux?

Hello everyone! How I've gotten here You can either skip this part or grab some popcorn... I'm very glad this forum exists, but I fear I've discovered it too late. I went straight into MOTU UltraLite AVB's fly trap... As many others report, I have several problems operating this interface on Linux a...
