Re: Finnish Black metal

Great production.
I 've expected the typical excessive clickiness on the bass drum, which is one of these (over-)formulaic features of this genre that bore me like autotune voice fx in pop.

But no, the drums sound natural as they should, imho.

Congrats!

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

Looking around a bit, it turns out somebody has already filed a wishlist bug against jackd: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1040003 Since that was "long" before the release of pipewire 1.0 it might be a matter of writing an email to 1040003@bugs.debian.org to second that ...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

So in Debian world this should please everyone...? jackd | pipewire-jack in the control file Since from the packaging perspective pipewire-jack can be seen as yet another jack daemon it could also be added to the dependency list of the meta-package jackd, which in its source version is called jackd...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

qtractor from (my) repos, both OBS and PPA, have this in its debian control files: Build-Depends: libjack-dev | libjack-jackd2-dev Well, that very same line is in the control file of the debian package ( https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team/qtractor/-/blob/master/debian/control?ref_type=heads )...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

Well, the transition to pipewire is a process. There is a timeline involved. Bookworm was released before pipewire-jack was in a state to be considered a replacement for jackd. That should be obvious. Regarding qtractors requirements: https://qtractor.org/qtractor-index.html#Requirements is not the ...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

Who determines what Qtractor depends on? It's developer (@rncbc) or Debian? Both obviously. A distribution maintainer has to decide how to organize the build and the runtime dependencies the given source code (upstream) defines. He/she does this to integrate this given software in the package manag...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

What do you mean by Debian "Proper"? The "Stable" release (wich is ver. 12 codename 'Bookworm' at the moment)? I meant debian as a distribution itself (and of course stable in this context). However the OP is running something "debian based". Some of those derivatives ...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

At least on debian proper it is not necessary to upgrade the whole system to testing or unstable. A relatively recent version of pipewire is installable through the backports repo. apt-cache policy pipewire pipewire: Installed: 1.0.3-1~bpo12+1 Candidate: 1.0.3-1~bpo12+1 Version table: 1.0.4-3 80 80 ...

Re: Carla and yabridge clashing

Hi, while there exists a wine bridge for carla, using carla doesn't mean one has a means to use win plugins per se. You will have to configure carla to do so and last time i checked you even had to install an extra package for that. And then the yabridge tool arguably does the better job in that reg...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett Gen 2/3 Control Panel GUI

Hi, reading the error message the first thing that comes to mind is to check if the file really does not exist. Since you are using a "terminal centric distro" that would be: ls -l /usr/sbin/alsactl If it does not exist, you would want to find out how to install it. On a debian based syste...

Re: Headphones calibration/eq flattening on Linux?

Hi, there is a github repo for headphone calibration sources. Here is your model: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/results/oratory1990/over-ear/Neumann%20NDH20 One can either use the ir wav files loaded in a ir convolver plugin or create the eq curves in a eq plugin. Be sure to us...

Re: Getting a good (guitar) sound across multiple listening devices. Advice?

Hi, i would think the reference listening in a car meme gets a little overstretched at times. The main reason why it came up was that this was the place (other than the studio itself) where mixers and engineers in the olden times listened to music with the surplus of being in a constant listening po...

Re: I think it's that time of the year again

At least one use for such is search engine optimization. Search engines give higher rating for pages which have plenty of links from different domains. Yes. And the funny thing is that these techniques usually don't work. Search engines are well aware of this kind of fraudulent link placements and ...
