Re: Chords & roman numerals
ii D#dim That is incorrect, ii would D#min, ii° is D#dim Thanks, there goes yet another one where I managed to pile my fingers up my stack all the way to the armpit. Now I have to edit all the 2nds & 7ths in my chords cheatsheet because I called the major scale ending diminished chords just vii...

Re: Chords & roman numerals
Yes, so that in the key of C#m the 'standard' chords with roman numerals would be: i C#m ii D#dim III E iv F#m v G#m VI A VII B I can see myself making a jamming video in which the C# diagram that drifts by is labeled as a both a C# and as a I . But when I do the dirty move of using only two or only...

Re: Chords & roman numerals
Yet another freakin' paradigm shift for me but thank you. I would've thought that one could use only a single set of roman numerals in a key, so if I had to guess I would have guessed iM meaning a minor first but major

Chords & roman numerals
I made a jamming video with help from SonicVisualiser, it scrolls the chord names and diagrams as the song progresses. I show the chord roman numerals too, the catch being that sometimes I show all three but sometimes only one ...which helps with the learning . Pretty clear so long as standard chord...

That page is all unchecked in my RG, still got a blast of them when I posted. Haven't done much since then.

Re: Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
Is this the Nana Mouskouri recording in question? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afc6v2bozEc Not exactly, THAT was her #2 Gounod version recorded after the #1. (I don't know the differences, I only listened to this #2 once) Nana Mouskouri does have a beautiful voice. That version is in Eb, and the...

Re: wrong synth (nstrument) sounding in Rosegarden
I still have this problem if I have Hydrogen, qsynth and ZAFS dssi in use. I have found no way to get around it. Discussed in another thread are unwanted/unknown sounds and THAT comes form unwanted control messages that are visible when you edit a segment in 'Event list editor'. When I take out all ...

Re: Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
Trying to begin with basics in E major I got the triads from https://chordseasy.com/song/33051/ave-maria/?s=1 the checkbox for "simple" gives simplified chords (triads). Next I combined the lead and these triads in a midi. Problem is, it sounds like hsit! I want to make this song my 'relig...

Re: Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
After listening to #1 while looking at lead-screenshot....png and using###....png it's obvious to me that the melody (and the chords) on both charts are in E. The key defines the root of the I chord - the tonal center. One trick if you're having trouble finding the key: listen to/look at the last c...

... As an example, I can juggle the effects on the unit touch-screen OR on my smartphone via bluetooth, and also send the ouput to the smarphone and from there into the amp in another room. ... I wouldn't think so. Latency on Bluetooth is bad. Unusably bad. If you have a Bluetooth speaker, try play...

Re: Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
Ahhh, D-Tuned. You're still making things harder than they need to be. I suggested in another thread months ago you learn to use Roman numerals to define chord progressions. Among other uses (ease of transposition) it will vividly illustrate that while changing key means all of the chord and melody...

Re: Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
With Rosegarden I tried the lead track in A-major notation and it doesn't show too many accidentals so maybe the key is A after all . The chords used are 'approximately': E A6/E B F# E G# E G# Gbm B9\F# Dbm7\Ab Gb B\F# Gbdim7 E\G# Gbm6 Amaj7\G# Edim7 Em\G Gbdim E\G# E9s4 B\F# E\G# E9s4 E9s4 Abdim A ...

Re: Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
Try the original: Bb https://musescore.com/mooing/ave-maria It's very nice but it's not the Gounod version. That Mouskouri woman made something like a dozen versions in at least as many keys, mostly Schubert AFAIK. My midi file is based on that 1st rendition (I haven't really differentiated it from...

Ave Maria {Gounod} chords confusion (I'm always confused))
To make a short story long: Many years ago in another life I came upon a Nana Mouskouri rendition of Ave Maria on one of my Vinyl LP's. The mp3 made from it made me happy for decades! I neither knew nor cared what key it was in or any of that. Much later I decided that I wanted to learn it and had s...
