Re: Q re USB audio interfaces

XLR connectors. The interface-side connectors are recessed into a T shape, the plug is three-pin. [edit]...aha! There are adapter cables! That'd do the trick...although I'd still like to know where to find the kind of box that doesn't need them. [further edit]...and now appears the Focusrite Scarlet...

Q re USB audio interfaces

All the devices I'm finding online are for connecting pro-type equipment via T-shaped jacks. What I want is something that can handle multiple inputs of 1/4" and/or 1/8". Do these even exist?

Re: Sustained dilemma

A drawback to distributing FLAC'd SFZs is that some SFZ players don't support FLAC.
CPU load...well, I'm currently looping a ten-second file of pink noise in WAV and FLAC formats, and the CPU load, on a somewhat dated i5 running Audacious, is basically indistinguishable between formats.

Re: [SOLVED] Reaper+Qjackctl+A2jmidid not working on Debian/Gnome

Apparently the root of the problem is that Debian Gnome requires PipeWire specifically, rather than either-oring the dependency with PulseAudio. In theory this wouldn't be a problem, and if Debian shipped the current PipeWire practice would match theory, but it ships an old and iffy version instead....

Re: Reaper+Qjackctl+A2jmidid not working on Debian 12 (with Gnome)

So you've set QJackCtl to start a2jmidid, you've started QJackCtl and it's in the notification area, you've verified that a2jmidid is actually running with ps ax | grep a2jmidid in a terminal, but when you start REAPER it fails to show your device? or it does show your device but it won't activate?

Re: Long time musician - Linux newbie

You'll want to investigate the REAPER forums as well, e.g. Newbieland and REAPER For Linux.

Are there more people like me that work with the classic column view rather than the graph view?

Re: Half of Bandcamp staff laid off

The natural flow of money is from the poor to the rich, passing through the middle class along the way. Since money doesn't move downward except at noise level, the government must make up the difference¹, as the sun evaporates water off the sea to provide clouds and then rain and then rivers; unfor...

I'm told that's all OK because the banks paid back the loans from the public with the interest they made from loans to the public of the money they were loaned by the public.

isn't unplugging a patch-cord is a much more faster solution?

In my case I'd have to go find a flashlight.

Re: New wiki article on installing a Linux audio system

A somewhat safe way to do it would be by building your own kernel and disabling both mitigations and your network access; e.g. my ethernet module is the e1000e, so I would set my .config with

CONFIG_E1000E=n
CONFIG_CMDLINE="mitigations=off"
