I'm using Ubuntu. I just got it to work by doing the build myself actually, using the sourceforge files. So there must be an issue with the version in the Ubuntu repository. It's all working fine now.

All fixed. Turns out all I needed to do was use pavucontrol to tell Firefox to use the onboard card, and now I can play youtube and the guitar at the same time.
