Re: [Alternative] Drunk Dolphins - Blue Collar

Thanks again! The only thing that confused me a little was the snare. Especially on the quieter hits it sounds very dry. Did you use parallel processing, parallel compression? In these moments it has a very distinct low end. It's almost like there are two snare sounds/recordings. Yeah i do use a lot...

Re: Greetings from Germany

Hi,
yes i'm working with Reaper. I used Ardour and Non Daw for a bit, but the drum replacement (and midi) is easier - at least for me - in Reaper. I use the Reaper standard plugins, drumgizmo and the dragonfly reverb. For projects without midi needs i like to use Ardour with the Calf plugins tho.

Re: computer hardware & audio interface choices

For your use (5 tracks in reaper with some plugins) even a raspi 3 would be enough. The built-in plugs are very efficient. If you miss something, take a look at the JS section as well. For your guitar practicing: i use this sim: https://audio-assault.com/reampstudio.php on a Thinkpad T520 and a Behr...

Re: Peering out from the covid cellar...

Welcome to the forum!

For midi-work there are much better DAWs than Ardour. I really like it for mixing recordings, it starts to fall apart as soon as i want to trigger a snare. It is possible, but not at all convenient.
Id suggest taking a look at Bitwig or Qtractor.

Thanks a lot for sharing this! I think this is the route to go for me. Setting up a instance with all of your music available and a paypal link for donations.

A LinuxMusicians radio is also a cool concept!

Thanks for your replys! >> The beginning sounds a lot like an American song from the 70s I don't know anything similar. If you figure out which one i'd like to know, too. >> Why not sing in German ? I never liked german music. English sounds a lot more melodical to me, dunno why. The only german ban...

Re: Best type of vocal mic for singing players?

My experience with the SM58 isn't that great. I mixed a lot of live concerts with very loud bands in small rooms and i could never get the SM58 as loud as some others. https://www.thomann.de/intl/sennheiser_e845s.htm The guitarist in a heavy metal band i mixed has this Sennheiser mic. In loud live s...

Re: PINEBOOK Pro suitable for audio?

If you're still interested i tried running some old reaper productions on my pi4. Since dragonfly-reverb is x64 only i had to run everything without reverb. Here are some screenshots: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tuq4bxw16uzcih2/AAC8Rohuy26klTvD6SE8B9KVa?dl=0 Everything ran alright, until ReaTune (bui...

[Alternative] Drunk Dolphins - Blue Collar

Hi all, this is the first song i was involved in to see a release. Some friends from different local bands got together with me for this. I recorded everything with the Behringer UMC1820 + ADA8200 (Drums) / UMC204 (all the rest). The drumset is some sonor set with a lot of cymbals. I used some cheap...

Greetings from Germany

Hi all, i'm a 22 y.o. student of physics. I started using Ubuntu ~10 years ago, but moved to Debian as my main OS. I play bass, guitar and a bit of drums mainly in Hard Rock/Heavy Metal and Alternative Bands. Recording was always one of my interests, though i started out with Cubase 7 on Windows. Th...
