Re: pw-jack

I haven't come across that before. Does it only happen with Muse? What about Carla or something else? I've just tried with the same settings as you with carla, zynaddsubfx, cardinal and all of them run fine at 48000 when pipewire is set to default at 44100. Well, hydrogen also reports the wrong def...

Re: pw-jack

I do kind of understand his point though. Unifying consumer audio, pro audio, and video streaming into a single framework seems a massive undertaking. And now that more and more distro's ship pipewire o.o.t.b., the issue reports will likely skyrocket. It may take a large team of devs/contributors t...

Re: pw-jack

I will never understand why people who don't use something, don't know anything about it and don't want to do either feel the need to talk FUD about it.

Re: SFZ glide effect

If you download the meatbass instrument here https://shop.karoryfer.com/pages/free-meatbass

and open the patch 01_arco_modwheel.sfz then you can see that portamento code in action. The file is quite well annotated.

Re: Pipewire and Jack Transport playhead relocations

JACK programs generally don't request a sample rate because they are made to follow whatever the JACK settings are. You can modify the launch command to do so but unless you do that then it will follow either the default settings if nothing else is connected, the current settings in use if something...

Re: SFZ glide effect

Do you mean like this? I did this by setting helm synth to mono, with legato and portamento on.

It's not a default, it's just that in the example that was given. The cc number can be anything.

Re: SFZ glide & legato

@audio2000 The sfz file instructs the player what to do. There aren't set controls on the players because you can set the same controls to behave differently on a per instrument basis.

Here is a tutorial on legato and portamento for sfz

Re: Is there such a thing as good UX for tab editors?

Here you go https://www.lessonface.com/sites/default/files/field/image/notes-on-guitar-fretboard_0.jpg Notes go from A to G and back round again. In between the notes, there are other notes called the flat of note after it or the sharp of the one before it. This is with the exception of B to C and E...

Re: pw-jack

I found the same needs to be done with MX Linux but I don't need to (and never needed to) use the pw-jack prefix on OpenSuse. So I would presume it's a debian thing. It's easiest to edit menu entries to put the prefix in commands. Or if you use the terminal, put some bashrc alias in.

Re: Beato: discusses why bands are dissapearing from charts

Charts are and always have been rigged. They are not even measuring the same things as before, it is foolish to compare a streaming chart to historic charts of people buying physical media. I don't know about rigged, but if you want to know most listened song, there hasn't been good options before....

What you're talking about is modular synths presets essentially. The hardware examples you've given are by firms that do eurorack and have packaged something into a desktop device. This kind of stuff can surely be catered for in cardinal or bespoke synth.

Re: Why using Linux for music production?

I agree that there are a lot of synths out there that are overblown in terms of feature richness. But that's not just FOSS projects that have that problem sometimes. Look for example at NI Absynth. Most people use it as a preset bitch with integrated random knob. Everything else with it is to compl...
