Re: pw-jack
I will never understand why people who don't use something, don't know anything about it and don't want to do either feel the need to talk FUD about it.

Re: SFZ glide effect
If you download the meatbass instrument here https://shop.karoryfer.com/pages/free-meatbass
and open the patch 01_arco_modwheel.sfz then you can see that portamento code in action. The file is quite well annotated.

Re: SFZ glide effect
Do you mean like this? I did this by setting helm synth to mono, with legato and portamento on.

It's not a default, it's just that in the example that was given. The cc number can be anything.

Re: SFZ glide & legato
@audio2000 The sfz file instructs the player what to do. There aren't set controls on the players because you can set the same controls to behave differently on a per instrument basis.
Here is a tutorial on legato and portamento for sfz

Re: pw-jack
I found the same needs to be done with MX Linux but I don't need to (and never needed to) use the pw-jack prefix on OpenSuse. So I would presume it's a debian thing. It's easiest to edit menu entries to put the prefix in commands. Or if you use the terminal, put some bashrc alias in.

You could try Frescobaldi, a front end for lilypond.

Re: Beato: discusses why bands are dissapearing from charts
Charts are and always have been rigged. They are not even measuring the same things as before, it is foolish to compare a streaming chart to historic charts of people buying physical media.

Re: Why using Linux for music production?
What you're talking about is modular synths presets essentially. The hardware examples you've given are by firms that do eurorack and have packaged something into a desktop device. This kind of stuff can surely be catered for in cardinal or bespoke synth.
