Re: Is there an application for to read guitar tabs with autoscroll?

You might also search for a "teleprompter" application, as that's a pretty close approximation of what you need.

Re: Obituary thread for musicians

Nothing for Jimmy Buffett? Checkout "Brahma Fear" or "Nautical Wheelers", both recorded pre-1975.

IMHO the early 1970's "alt country" was gently subversive, at least compared to today's crossover / conformist stuff...

Re: what if...?

Emotion is big factor in bad decisions and so you could say that since AI currently do not have this then they are able to make smarter and perhaps more informed and objective decisions. Depends what you mean by smart though. There's a prominent school of thought among neurobiologists that decision...

Re: AI aided software development

AFA programming, they say ChatGPT has an edge over Bard, but these tools are changing so rapidly, so who knows???? Regarding AI, I'm of a mind to agree with: "AI won't kill us, it will drive us insane." By amplifying all the divisive effects of disinformation, societal stresses and the neg...

I'm trying to use Bard to help create Makefiles.

It's actually being helpful. I don't expect it work without tweaking, of course.

Re: naming guitar cages

Cool discussion. I first learned guitar from a "Music for Millions: Lead Guitar (1972)" book. Forget the internet, personal computers didn't even exist. The book used "positions" (1 through 5), and renamed the minor pentatonic the "blues scale." The book relied heavily ...

Re: Should volume knob be separate from power switch?

Yeah, absolutely. Separate on/off & volume controls are much preferred.

Not exactly a new issue for electronics (cost vs function). I have '50s Kay tube amp, and the on/off switch is coupled with the tone POT. :?

Re: Very easy way to set Pipewire sample rate and buffer size defaults!

I'll have to try Patchance, it's great to have another option. Pipecontrol, hmmm, there's another. ALSO, re: a pipewire-aware patchbay, RaySession works very well, also, plus it's possible to adjust the pipewire buffer size from the patchbay GUI. You don't need to use it for session-management if th...

hvcc Pd plugin compiler adds GUIs

The hvcc "Heavy" compiler for Pure Data has added support for GUIs (via DPF, the DISTRHO Plugin Framework). hvcc can generate plugins In LV2, VST, VST3 and CLAP formats. It uses a (large) subset of Pd objects. From the latest release: DPF: basic UI generation using dpf-widgets (imgui + mod...

Re: How do I change sample rate to something less than 1024 (using Jack + Reaper)?

You probably don't need QJackCtl to start the pipewire JACK emulation, at least in Ubuntu 22.04. I don't (personally I switched to the KXStudio tools--Claudia, etc, over QJackCtl for JACK2 some time ago, but that's not required now, as well). Yeah, the default buffer size is set to 1024 in Pipewire....

Re: ChaffVerb plugin

A small update today for ChaffVerb to v0.2.3:

  • The "general" LFO wasn't initializing correctly
  • The default activation state for that LFO is now 'OFF'

Plugin builds are updated also.

sjzstudio reports that the alternate builds seem to resolve the issues with Mixbus and the plugin (probably new vs old system libraries).
