Re: Some new songs

Hi Pierre, if you are thinking of new drums... Have you tried DrumGizmo? Or if you'd like a little less hassle: the Salamander drumkit in SFZ format? together with AVL they can provide rather good drum sounds. :) I have DrumGizmo installed but normally I find AVL drums better to use, for many reaso...

Re: Some new songs

Hi jeanette_c Your response was quite rich so I'll have to address it by parts. First of all, many thanks for your time and patience! May I ask how you record your guitar? Do you use an acoustic pickup or a mic? the sound is a little plasticky. Acoustic guitar was recorded with a condenser mic, and ...

Re: Some new songs

Hi, glad you're back! We've lost some regular contributors here so it's great to see a few 'old faces' have come back.. :) I enjoyed the songs, great work! Great vocals on the samba, setBFree also sounds great! Esperanca was lovely as well although in the lower registers the round tone of the lead ...

Some new songs

Hi there, it's been a while. I got a couple new songs I just finalised. I'm still working with Ardour and using a bunch of cool plugins like setBFree, Guitarix and ZynAddSubFX. All of them are used on those songs. Here's a brief description of each one with the respective links. Any comments will be...

Re: All I want for Christmas is Odin

It's been a while since I don't come here, but I saw a notification about this song on YT and, instead of commenting there ... here I am, back to this great forum! Very cool song, I liked the melody and the death/black metal vibe. The drums are amazing this time, I've never been capable to do anythi...

Re: Desert Rain

Hi Rainmak3r Congratulations for this new "baby"! Since there's much music in there I'm yet unable to give a proper review, but I'm liking very much what I'm hearing so far. True heavy-metal, with little prog moments here and there. I'd just like a little more punch in the drums' sound, bu...

Re: Breaking News

Seemed to me a bit of a mix between rock and electronic. Very trippy vibe and well done production-wise. It shows that you spend time working on the track. I wasn't aware there's a Linux version of Reaper. It was the first DAW I've worked with and I have to leave it when I began using Linux. Good to...

Re: Hello world

I'd liked it! Very strange and somewhat funny at the same time (I guess the "funny" part is coming from the lead synth sound).

The beat's very cool and complex, also.

Thanks for sharing!

Re: New album: Dying Backward

I remember somebody has poster a pull request on LMMS to add labels to notes of the piano roll. this will open the door to templates from drumkits :) I'd never use LMMS, I'd stick with Ardour since I began making music in Linux. I went to read about it (LMMS) and it seems to be more oriented to loo...

Re: New album: Dying Backward

I was expecting something related to Metal (Black, Death or wathever), but I was surprised in a good way. Indeed, it sounds very sinister, but in an unexpected fashion, with all the strange beats and sinister riffs/harmonies. All very slow, which adds to the dark atmosphere. The spoken french parts ...

Re: Rated Blue - "Screaming Night Hog"

Very cool riff, it even surprised me to know it's a Steppenwolf song, but I'm not a specialist in their catalog.

I loved the way the guitar goes with the singing, always soloing and riffing. And it's kind of heavy too, in a cool Hendrix way.

Re: It's been a long time coming, some metal

It sounds very cool to me. Indeed the song has some Stoner vibes, but I happen to like it. I think the guitar work is very well-done, the riff is catchy and the tone is great (is the guitar down-tuned?) As for the mix, very very professional to my ears. The drums are also another level, I still find...

Re: 01/22 - brand new song, first of the year

Hi guys, Again, thanks for taking your time to listen and sharing your thoughts. This forum is really awesome :-) I wasn't thinking about Nirvana when writing or producing this song, but I recognize some 80's rock influence and I think Nirvana received some influence from that period too. New Wave c...

Re: 01/22 - brand new song, first of the year

Hi @GMaq

Thanks for the encouragement! About the Black Pearl Drumkit it's the best tool I've found to this day to work with (in Linux at least, but I don't use nothing else). It would be great to have more variety of tones or drum kits, though.
