Hi and welcome! I don't use firewire on linux (yet! I do have audiofire boxes that I've used before on mac so maybe this too will happen), but:
- do you have dbus running, and
- do you have ffado-dbus-server package installed and running?

Re: Room response measurement
The problem with ALSA is that it will say 'resource busy' if JACK or Pulse are using the soundcard. You could stop JACK and suspend Pulse. I run REW on the internal soundcard so there is no conflict. Thanks, that's really helpful! Maybe I'll get it to work if I try harder. I like REW because it can...

Room response measurement
I posted my system setup just now on the other chain, and was left wondering how I might do room measurements now that I'm only using Linux. I have previously used Room EQ Wizard (REW) on OSX, but I could never make it work right on Linux, even though it's a java program. The problem seems to be tha...

Re: [SOLVED] Can't get linvst to work on Mint 20
Thanks, I must try that one as well. Though linvst is working pretty well right now (except that some plugins have sluggish UI). Right now I'm having trouble with lv2vst, which used to work just perfectly before. Sigh. Now _every_ plugin just crashes Reaper and dumps core. Luckily there are not that...

Re: Guitarix: Tubes, Amp Impulses, overall usability
So, the build was successful in Mint 20. I used the instructions here: https://sourceforge.net/p/guitarix/wiki/Install/ I had to install a lot of dependencies. Here's an apt command for your convenience: sudo apt install intltool libfftw3-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev sassc liblrdf0-dev liblilv-dev libbo...

Hmm, now I have to build Guitarix from source, that filter removal is too important change for me to wait for packagers...

Re: [SOLVED] Can't get linvst to work on Mint 20
Hello again ubuntuuser, I tried a newer version of linvst (3.15), and again get the same error than before. I can get vst2 to work with the 3.0 Manjaro version, as before, and that's fine, but I can't seem to find a working vst3 package now. LinVst3-2.15.zip downloaded from github does not work. I m...

Re: Kumikäki - Le Bob (album made with Reaper on Linux)
Thanks! I'm amazed, among other things, by the drums. There were fills that sounded so organic, how you did that with sampling? Two songs (if I remember right) have longer samples, some fills were just cut from longer pieces, but most drums have just been played in with keyboard. It's not the easies...

Re: Kumikäki - Le Bob (album made with Reaper on Linux)
Already commented on your other thread, but after listening to the whole album I can say that it doesn't disappoint. It is awesome all the way through! It sounds more like a group performance than a solo work, which is hard to pull off. As an aside, I notice that you are on an old version of Linux ...

Re: [SOLVED] Can't get linvst to work on Mint 20
Hey, just saying that after this change, I have working VST2 and VST3 plugins, even plugins that didn't work in my last install (Mint 18.3). Good times!

Re: Can't get linvst to work on Mint 20
That Manjaro version works perfectly, thank you! So Debian version problems, huh?
