Re: A Virus C ROM and debian package emu with fine gui!

Otherwise great, but for me at least it drops notes, fairly often too. Impossible to actually play anything. Maybe every 20th note is just dropped. I don't have this problem with any other synth plugin. :(

Re: Latency tuning

Here is one thing that really helped me with low latency: shutting down Firefox, and any other web browser, including stuff that uses Electron, such as the fat Matrix client Element. But the main culprit seems to be Firefox, which spawns high priority realtime audio threads. Please see this: https:/...

Agordejo: Is it possible to start Carla visible?

I'm using Agordejo to manage my sessions and Carla is always started not visible, even though I save the state as visible. Why is this? Can I do something to make it start visible?

Using EndeavourOS (Arch), Carla 2.5.0, Agordejo 0.4.1, PipeWire.

Re: Carla and Claudia patchbays don't remember positions

Looks like JACK is an old version. KX Extras repo for an up-to-date JACK package. Thank you, that actually did the trick! For some reason libjack-jackd2-0 package was held, so adding the kx extras repo and doing sudo apt install --reinstall libjack-jackd2-0 ...and restarting... worked, and now the ...

(Solved) Carla and Claudia patchbays don't remember positions

Hi, I couldn't find any discussion related to this, so: I've been using Carla, Cadence and Claudia together with Agordejo as session manager for a couple of years, but the patchbays have never remembered the connection graph _layouts_. So when I load a session, everything connects fine and work perf...

Re: Reaper MIDI vs. Mixbus MIDI

I have both Mixbus 5 and current Reaper, and I use Reaper to make music and Mixbus only occasionally mix and master, because at least the version 5 MIDI is just painful compared to Reaper. I use MIDI to play virtual instruments in and to edit them, and I found Mixbus to be very annoying and Reaper t...

Mixbus v7 experiences, anyone?

Harrison is offering "crossgrade" or cross upgrade from regular Mixbus to 32c for a hundred bucks, which would be a nice price. I'm really hesitant, though, because I can't find any good resources on what's actually updated or fixed. Or if things are just more broken. I'm currently sitting...

MIDI keyboard not staying available in Claudia between Jack startups

I have this minor annoyance: if I plug in my Roland A-49 USB MIDI keyboard when Jack is running, it will show up in Claudia nicely. But if I stop Jack and then start it up again, I will need to disconnect the USB and reconnect to have the keyboard show up again. This is somewhat annoying, as it will...

Re: How do I split out a Multichannel Ouput into individual inputs and ouputs

One thing that occasionally still trips me up is that on the Pulseaudio side, the Jack sink output has to be selected if Jack is running. So if I have this situation: scr_2021-01-28_14-30.png ...I can't hear anything. The selected output is my virtual stereo output for the Presonus (actual four outp...

Re: How do I split out a Multichannel Ouput into individual inputs and ouputs

I can't unfortunately offer you a complete solution, but I recently wanted to map two of my audio interface's four outputs as one stereo out, because Pulseaudio thinks it is a 4.0 surround out (which for example puts all sounds coming from behind in games to the two "rear" channels, and I ...

Re: I am newbee! AudioFire connection

Hi and welcome! I don't use firewire on linux (yet! I do have audiofire boxes that I've used before on mac so maybe this too will happen), but:
- do you have dbus running, and
- do you have ffado-dbus-server package installed and running?

Re: Room response measurement

The problem with ALSA is that it will say 'resource busy' if JACK or Pulse are using the soundcard. You could stop JACK and suspend Pulse. I run REW on the internal soundcard so there is no conflict. Thanks, that's really helpful! Maybe I'll get it to work if I try harder. I like REW because it can...

Room response measurement

I posted my system setup just now on the other chain, and was left wondering how I might do room measurements now that I'm only using Linux. I have previously used Room EQ Wizard (REW) on OSX, but I could never make it work right on Linux, even though it's a java program. The problem seems to be tha...
