Re: How to use Carla and Windows VST Plugins?

BRO. OH MY GOSH .. .. .. I could not figure this out for the life of me for sooo LONG. THANK YOU! I had to make an account on here just to thank you. I care not if these answers are out there in abundance about this. You are the first of many then. All I had to do was enable experimental features a...

Re: installing NI komplete kontrol on linux

No idea why it hangs. Starting with 'wine setup.exe' or something should give some info in the console and the WINE version should be not ancient. If you are installing from a mounted ISO, unpack it and copy to a accessible folder by wine inside drive_c. That worked for installing some Kontakt libs ...

Re: Can the Korg m3r be controlled by the PC?

You can make your own UI with https://ctrlr.org/nightly/?C=M;O=D. I had some issues getting it to work, but it did in the end on Ubuntu Studio. Maybe there is already an existing panel for the M3R. Just looked that synth up on ebay and it seems there's also a remote device called RE1 for it.

Re: M Audio Keystation 49 MK3 No Midi Connection

I hope you don't mind if I chime in here. I am bored... Is it a Windows VST plugin or VST instrument? A VST instrument. I would say it's a sampler with synth features that can provide all kind of functionality depending on the library. If Windows VST: do you "bridge" it to Linux with, for ...

Re: M Audio Keystation 49 MK3 No Midi Connection

DSP goes boom. The VST3i has multicore support. Don't know about the VSTi. You can check under "Engine" if that's enabled and maybe also enable Overload protection to kill voices before "redlining". The high usage could be that library. Some are really demanding. Just a wild gue...

Re: KORG Monologue updater in WINE (might work for other KORG gear too)

Very cool. Thanks for that. I have seen your thread on the Reaper board about it. This really might work for a bunch of KORG devices now. I have a half-broken KP3 without an update and made a thread about "unimplemented midi" functions in WINE (that was my speculation), because I couldn't ...

Re: A new track!

Looks like it's time to break out the energy crystals and align those chakras :) But srsly, I dig it. Maybe up the volume a few db. It seems a bit quiet. The sound is spot on for the type of music. I was waiting for a bell or a tibetan singing bowl. Keep it up!

Re: Latency Tip

@LinuxMusician01 If you want to experiment with getting less latency/xruns and audio devices you might try a "driverless" out of the box working audio device like the U-Phoria ones from Behringer Maybe related to that I found out, that using the on-board soundchip (intel_hda) doesn't make ...

Re: Vangelis Alpha , Pitch bend ?

He never learned notes, and claims he still can't. ( there might be hope for me still  ) He is one of a kind. Have you seen how he transcribes his music with weird alien scribbles in his "spaceship" synth cockpit? (don't know wtf that is). But he has a guy who puts his music down in...

Re: Vangelis Alpha , Pitch bend ?

Sounds like a pitched sine or "synth flute" patch.
I think those wheels are modulation and pitch ?
Yes ,left is pitch, right is modulation.

Re: Some general approaches in optimizing Ableton Live within Wine-Staging

I wonder how CPU is when you load a few (Windows) VST plugins. Bad 8) 2-3 Pigment instances in Live and before it crackles with the first preset patch. Forgot to to look up how many voices are played. In Carla standalone every instance adds around 8 % DSP load idle,. Two Pigments triggered by a sma...

Re: Some general approaches in optimizing Ableton Live within Wine-Staging

With Live 11 and Pigments 3 I get 10.2 ms /448 samples at 44.1 khz, but performance isn't great. CPU is around 20 % idle and up to 40 with one instance. winedrv is alsa, no jack or pulse. APU is a AMD 3400g with 16GB 3200 DDR4 on Ubuntu Studio with wine-staging and yabridge. I really like the Arturi...

Re: [Ableton Live 10]VST-Plugins not detected

That bug is gone btw in wine-staging 6.22. The VST folder can be set to "custom" and 64bit plugins are detected.

Re: Latency Tip

If a USB interface did do some of the DSP audio data would have to be sent back and forward between the computer and the interface, increasing latency,
That's a good point and makes total sense. I was thinking that the USB DSPs are doing something similar like those internal DSP cards.

Re: Latency Tip

Linuxmusician01 I don't have problems with latency or xruns. It's just as good as on Windows or Mac, but I wanted to know if I could get better performance with a new interface or rather get a new CPU (APU), because DSP load is on the edge according to Carla with a few "big" plugins like ...
