Re: USB Turntables and recording
Many thanks for this - I did wonder about the difference in the turntables, it looks like I will stick I with my original Ion unit then and just re-record if a glitch becomes apparent afterwards. Is there any reason why one unit is identified as PCM2900 and the other is identified as a "Stereo...

Re: USB Turntables and recording
Thank you, as it turns out, I found in PulseAudio Volume Control the ability to change it from SPDIF to Audio Codec Analogue Stereo.

Re: USB Turntables and recording
[...] I am still struggling with the SPDIF vs USB as above though even with the explanation above :( [...] That's more of a thing for another forum, IMHO. Try a Wikipedia page. I've no idea what your background is. So you might be "fluent" in Math and Science (like me) and know what bitra...

Re: USB Turntables and recording
I believe to monitor this recording live would require using a different interface for the playback monitor. Unless specifically setup to resample I suspect the clocks drifting out of sync would cause the issues you describe. There are differences in quality of the digital chips that can certainly ...

Re: USB Turntables and recording
I don’t like switching the listen during recording on in audacity in case it causes me problems or glitches. There should be no problem monitoring the recording through Audacity. Unless you have speakers really loud. I've done it numerous times. Sometimes when I have listened back it has brought in...

USB Turntables and recording
Hi So I have another little problem… I’ve had a Ion TTUSB05XL turntable for years for backing up records. No issues, it does the job great and I get great sound. It’s recognised as sound device PCM2900 input. However there’s no speakers on the unit so occasionally I would digitise a recording and th...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
Wrote a reply and it deleted 🙄 Anyway, issue solved. Changing frame/period to 4096 from 1024 instantly made everything work, with no lag. Presenter can hear themselves and moderate their volume and their headphones are plugged into PC as per original way of doing things. Thanks everyone who looked i...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
I might have no clue but... the specs of a Yakoman USB mike https://www.amazon.com/Streaming-Microphone-Professional-Condenser-Recording/dp/B08FB14Y1Y say its only sampling rate is 192kHz. So I suggest you set the Sample Rate in JACK to 192000 Interesting, thank you, I had completely missed that - ...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
These are my JACK settings for the Yakoman - again worth saying, the HyperX is working fine even if "wrongly" (Connected via USB, and my headphones into laptop for listening) https://i.ibb.co/dbRymf3/Screenshot-from-2021-08-19-15-29-52.png https://i.ibb.co/4FXQ0h2/Screenshot-from-2021-08-1...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
The received wisdom is that you're doing it the 'wrong' way. :) I can't understand why you want to do it this way -- one interface for input and one for output, but you do so ... If I understand correctly you have a different input and output selected in QjackCtl > Settings > Advanced ? That's only...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
Thanks Merlyn. I had forgotten to do the configscan which I have now rectified and which I used to do as a matter of course. Linuxmusician01 - Thanks for looking at this - I totally get what you're saying but I don't understand it (well I do but...) Both laptops do work as I would expect them to wor...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
Thanks for the reply linuxmusician01. I think that USB mics are fairly commonplace now in terms of things like gaming and combined headsets/mics etc and for Twitch streaming? I should add that for my personal broadcast set up I always use xlr mics and interfaces/mixers but I am making the best of wh...

Re: External USB microphone stuck at 192000
Thanks Milo - I think I will just have to put it down to the microphone, I am just sorting another laptop out and touch wood that seems to be doing ok... EDIT: Yup, on the second laptop, exactly the same, my HyperX works perfectly (well, one xrun error in hour) but this other USB microphone will jus...
