Re: PINEBOOK Pro suitable for audio?

Also, the PBP and RockPro64 (the SBC version) have a 4x PCIe slot. I'm betting that would be a good option if you need low-latency monitoring from your DAW, with a compatible sound card.

Rigging that up with the laptop is another story, but the SBC would be perfect for that application.

Re: PINEBOOK Pro suitable for audio?

Why not? I'm assuming he was saying that due to the lack of "external connections" on the device. I'm not sure how that really applies to audio, though, since most laptops do not have very good external connections for audio stuff anyway. Also, there are plenty of USB-C docks with loads o...

Re: Conflict (Metal Track)

Yea, sorry I'm not too much more help in regards to the tones. Just commenting on what I heard, but the lead tones did sound pretty great. Disgaea is good fun, I spent a lot of time on that one years back but never could get back in to it. I love me some Final Fantasy, though, I recently did a playt...

Re: Anyone using Virtualbox for audio production in 2020?

IMO, if I was that reliant on Windows VSTs I would just dual boot Windows. Or use Wine, which does work very well these days, but you said that was out of the running.

Re: PINEBOOK Pro suitable for audio?

ARM computers are not created equal. Comparing it to the Raspberry PI is a little silly. I think it should do fine with your use case.

Re: Recording King Diamond with Guitarix and TuxGuitar

Good job! The tone actually came out pretty good, I'm always pretty impressed by guitarix. How bad is the latency?

Re: Conflict (Metal Track)

Nice! I especially liked the transition at ~00:58 and the ending solo. I do agree that the rhythm track tone could use some work, it sounds a bit thin to me - some double tracking could definitely help there.

Also, the world is your oyster for JRPGs on Linux - just install some emulators!

Re: Pity Party

I'm just starting listening to this but so far it really gives me a smile

Sounds like a well produced album so far.

EDIT: Wish it was longer but I love the consistency of the music throughout. I liked the metronome transition into the electric drums at the end of Chronocide, nice touch.

Re: Why'd They Educate Ya?

I really like the sound! I think it sounds really good and has a raw feel to it. Perhaps listen to what the others are saying in regards to mixing the guitar/bass frequencies (I really don't know much about mixing to be of any help there), but I wouldn't touch it much more than that - it has a cool ...

Bella Nice! I love Blue Cheer, thanks for the reminder I haven't listened to them for quite some time. tavasti Yea, it is a work in progress. I'm currently just a hobby guitarist, and I have fell out of the practice routine for a while. But once I get together something I'll be sure to post it here!

Re: Viable soon?

Yes, there is very few any hardware that is officially supported to run linux. However, that does not mean that they don't work. From what I've researched though, as long as the device is class compliant (most/all devices that work on an iPad should be class compliant) it should work out of the box...

Re: Best USB audio interface <$1000

Congrats on the purchase! Hopefully like me, you wont regret it. I have the Behringer UMC404HD and UMC1820 and they are both excellent interfaces that work flawlessly on linux. I've had the UMC1820 paired with an ADA8200 in my band rehearsal/studio space for over a year now and haven't encountered ...

Re: Greetings!

Thanks everybody! I think I figured out my audio interface. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Now to just get my playing into shape! Bella- never heard the term proto-metal, TIL. I always just refer to that era as Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, but proto-metal sure is a more specific term. Could perhaps even...
