Hi @Linuxmusician01 , it's gratifying to hear that the Midish stuff still finds takers. I'm looking forward to see your extensions!

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
I found this, but not sure if it works in recent environments. https://pi4.informatik.uni-mannheim.de/~haensel/cuse/index_en.html It's still packaged with Archlinux, though no longer maintained. As such it will run. But if you need actual cursor positioning it's difficult. Also it appears to only s...

Re: Some new songs
Hi Pierre, if you are thinking of new drums... Have you tried DrumGizmo? Or if you'd like a little less hassle: the Salamander drumkit in SFZ format? together with AVL they can provide rather good drum sounds. :) And I'm glad you didn't take my criticism the wrong way. It was a joy to listen. Best w...

Re: When You Go Away
... I can only tell you as a listener that vocals could be emphasized a bit more. If you have the vocals in a separate stem, there are a few things you can do: send the vocals to a delay bus, VERY quietly, so you can't really hear it any more and make the delay long'ish. Based on the tempo, find it...

Re: When You Go Away
Heyhey @finotti , you certainly got a lot more gain out of the remix. :) the vocals appear more muffled in the remix. Thanks for removing the doubling on the piano in the new mix, that does sound cheesy and it was done a lot. :) It's a nice song. As you said: it's very accessible. Not knowing exactl...

Re: New song
Hi @spamatica , thanks for that song. It's a nice crossover of genres and sounds. The drums are a little quiet, they could sit more prominently in the mix and still not detract from the good guitar work. Ooh, I love that guitar sound! As always great singing! You can carry a tune well and forcefully...

Re: Some new songs
Salut @pdechery , thanks for sharing those tunes. I rather enjoyed them. They carry a light and engaging atmosphere and some lovely guitar playing. May I ask how you record your guitar? Do you use an acoustic pickup or a mic? the sound is a little plasticky. And yes, I know from little personal expe...

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
Hi @ahlstromcj , I just pulled ffrom Github again and the software compiles. I started it, but didn't get far with it. Standard I/O rerouted to /dev/null I see that there are a few config files, which I suppose I must first hack manually. At least it compiles and starts. So two steps forewards. :) T...

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
Hi @ahlstromcj , when I said a GUI setup is not feasible, I did not mean that your software is faulty, but simply that I personally can't and don't use a GUI. CAN'T, not won't or don't want to. I have just tried to clone seq66 from github and compile it, but even with the configure flag --diisable-q...

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
Hi @ahlstromcj , seq66 has been mentioned before in this thread. But it appears that even a GUI setup is not feasible. It still seems an interesting program.

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
Midish is not good for pattern based stuff. You can loop a recorded section and it will loop perfectly. If you need sequencing and quantising of notes, then Midish might be the tool for it. If you feel more performance oriented and rather rely on your playing skills, there is sooperlooper, which can...

Hi @Linuxmusician01 , I don't know of much in the way of tutorials. If you are interested, you migith be interested in my extra commands: http://juliencoder.de/test/sound/jbs_midish_extra-1.8.tar.bz2 At the end of your ~/.midishrc add: exec "/path/to/your/user_dir/.midish_extra"; At the to...

Re: Command line (Midi) sequencer?
Are Ecasound and Nama potential options? Alas no. Ecasound can handle MIDI to control certain effects parameters, but no more. Midish is what I use to record and process MIDI. There were a few other MIDI sequencers on the commandline, but most are so far out-of-date that they don't support ALSA seq...

Hi @Tenaba , I like this one. I much prefer it to Space is pretty Big, both in arrangement and production. Though maybe that's part of the chosen sounds. This is beautiful and lively. It breathes. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Birthdays
Hi @forestandgarden , the off-topic note first: thanks for uploading your song to a different site now. I think this may be the first one of yours that I've been able to listen to. And that, so it appears, has been my loss. A nice guitar tone and dramatic use of the reverb. It's a pleasure to listen...
