New to Linux Musicians

Hi just thought id introduce myself.
Im Dan, just signed up to the community this week.

Currently using:
ubuntu studio (latest addition)
Scarlett solo 2i2 gen 2.

Hoping to learn a little from the community n have some fun while im doing it.

Scarlett 2i2 could not reconnect to audio/MIDI engine

Hi, im wondering if anyone could help me. Originally the audio interface was working just fine..im not sure if I changed a setting but when trying to olen Ardour now n using the scarlet solo 2i2 and creating a new session it presents me with the message "could not reconnect to audio/MIDI engine...

I think this might be relevant to my situation. As I am already creating the music live directly into audacity does seem like the simpler option..i imagine using Jack would have an advantage if I wanted to add instruments/ create music on the computet but as im just recording samples it seems a bit ...

Excuse my intrude to thread. But why jack is so mandatory? If someone doesn't need audio routing and transport why he must use jack? I think as bluebell just nicely explained : it provides a low latency working enviroment and any audio source that recognises JACK can be used together...if i underst...

1.) You're lucky. The 2i2 works with Linux without trouble 2.) Install jackd and qjackctl if not already installed 3.) Configure jackd in qjackctl an start it.
