Re: How to Build a Raspberry Pi/Arduino Uno breadboard synthesizer

Thanks Milo.

It would please me immensely if my guide helped somebody's children discover how much fun this stuff can be :)

Re: Pi 4 as a MIDI hub thing!

It's definitely possible. Raspberry Pi OS has a MIDI layer right in the kernel as part of ALSA so that bit is really easy. There are all sorts of tools that help you manage it.. I like Mido, though maybe something graphical is better if you're going to change it a lot. Adding the MIDI port is a bit ...

Breadboard synthesizer: Raspberry Pi, Arduino Uno and analogue low pass filter

Hey folks, I still feel like I'm a beginner with DIY synths, but I wanted to show off what I am learning :) https://youtu.be/sN_gTfjqGzI It's more of a technical than a musical accomplishment. I've got an Arduino Uno set up as a wavetable oscillator, running into an analogue low pass filter with res...

Thanks guys! I installed LMMS from the .appimage, it seems to all just work with ALSA. There's not a lot of signal routing that I would do with my current setup, do I need to delve into JACK? I had a play with it on the raspberry pi ages ago and it seemed like it was super complicated but super powe...

Hi from Melbourne

Hey everyone, My name is James. I've been a happy Linux user for 18 months and a keen musician for 31 years, I'm glad to have found this place. I'm a rocker at heart, I started off on piano as a kid but the guitar was the first thing I really got excited about playing. Much later, I got into singing...

Good Linux software to learn synths and sequencing

Hey all, I'm a lifelong musician - started off on piano as a kid, moved over to guitar as a teen, then goofed around in rock bands through most of my adulthood. For the last 20 years, playing music for me has just meant caveman power chord rock guitar and loud vocals. I do really like electronic mus...
