Yes, Ardour rocks. Prior to moving to Linux for Audio I had been faithfully using Cakewalk/Sonar on Windows for almost 2 decades. The transition to Ardour was actually really quick and easy and I've been very pleased with it.
Oh, and welcome!

Re: ZynAddSubFX in Ardour can't open Plugin GUI
Hrmm. I may install it later and see how it works on my system. I do see from the screen shot in your initial post that you're at least getting a generic GUI, but yeah that's not entirely helpful.

Re: ZynAddSubFX in Ardour can't open Plugin GUI
Hmmm, I don't use ZynnAddSubFX, but I did run into a similar thing a while back in Ardour 5. I think I was able to get the plug-in GUI by right clicking the plug-in from the channel strip and choosing 'Edit' I think it was.

Re: How to install LinuxSampler.
If you're having issues compiling, I think the kxstudio repository has a version you can install. It might be an older version of LS though, so if you want latest you'll have to compile. I think the LS site has a list of dependencies you need to install first. Maybe one of these got missed and is ca...

Re: Greetings!
@ChuggnBlues I happened upon the term a few years ago when I was going through another Blue Cheer phase and hunting down their rare performances. I guess it kind of stuck after that. Prior to that I always just called it what you call it.
Nice to have you along for the Linux ride!

Hey hey, welcome
I play rock/blues rock and I also dig on early psych and garage, with a soft spot for proto-metal thrown in.
Good to have you here!

Re: Back to 1993
Lovely
I started working with synths around the same time, but didn't get into MIDI until 95 when I bought a Boss DR-5. I would then use that to sequence, bypassing the internal GM bank to use an Akai synth's patches.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Ika
Hey Ika :) I'm another (diehard) Tele player and also have the CV50 butterscotch, but my main is my 72 Tele Custom RI. I ousted the neck faux-widerange humbucker in it and dropped in a P90. I have a modded LPJ type guitar that I also dig, but I don't play it as much. It's got some neck dive and I'm ...

Re: Hi from Melbourne
Hi James, I'm also very Rock-aligned and a guitarist, but I spent a few years when I was younger writing and recording industrial music as a side project which taught me a lot about synths, drum machines, beats, samplers etc. - - from a hardware perspective, then later with both software and hardwar...

Re: Thoughts on what audio interface to get
I have read a bit about the Berhinger U-Phoria Series USB interfaces on here..especially the UMC204HD or UMC404HD will work right out of the box. Is this true for the UMC202HD as well? Probably a little late now, but if you're still wondering: Yes, the UMC202HD works 'out of the box'. I bought one ...

Re: DGPatchMaker, a graphical tool for creating DrumGizmo patches from sample libraries
I completed an entire kit last night using DGPatchMaker and a full drumkit set of samples I bought from Analog Drums (the Popsticks kit) a while back. Took a while of course, but much quicker than manually creating/editing xml files. DGPatchMaker was very stable throughout the process (Linux Mint 19...
