Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

since around 3 weeks i use the M2 with the latest kernel 5.11 that has the new MOTU M-series patches. and it works very well! manually putting "default-sample-rate = 48000" into /etc/pulse/daemon.conf is not necessary anymore. however i mostly used playback, input rarely. another strange b...

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

good news everyone! kernel sound maintainer takashi iwai submitted a patch that addresses the implicit feedback issues on usb devices and contains fixes for the motu m-series quirk: https://lore.kernel.org/alsa-devel/20201123085347.19667-1-tiwai@suse.de/ hopefully this fixes the issues we face. the ...

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

@fanantoxa: if have the exact same issue with firefox/youtube and the M2. without any jack. i can get youtube to work again only by stopping the input stream and restarting the browser. duplex is just not working correctly yet with pulseaudio. only putting the interface either in input mode or outpu...

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

also tried the duplex patch now on kernel 5.8-rc2 and 5.7.6. the patch was first submitted to kernel 5.8 and later applied to 5.7.6 and 5.4.49 (2020-06-24). the duplex option is now back in the pulseaudio settings however there is still an unfortunate bug i can confirm: when playing playback and the...

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

hi habys,
no haven't tried the patch yet. but it will be included in the next kernel 5.8 (mainline right now). if you use pulseaudio have you tried putting this

Code: Select all

default-sample-rate = 48000
avoid-resampling = no
into /etc/pulse/daemon.conf?

Re: Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

@robjordan: wow, you installed arch linux for testing the Motu. i hope it was not too much of a hassle. there are also distributions like manjaro that are based on arch but easy to install. the linux mint issue is just a kernel thing i guess, probably the Motu only runs on newer kernels . i know the...

Motu M2 USB Interface on Linux

recently i was looking for an USB audio interface for stereo output and mic input. the Motu M2 attracted my attention. on (non-linux) tests low latency and high quality preamps are reported and it possesses a LCD level meter (which is quite unique for this device class). a popular competitor in this...
