Re: Sequencer for playing live

I've installed Giada, but I can't convince it to record anything.

Sequencer for playing live

Is there a kind of simple sequencer for which I can use when playing out live? I have a Zoom RT-323 drum machine and a Behringer TD-3 bass line synthesiser, but it would be very handy to be able to sequence my Casio HT-3000 whilst playing it live. Ideally I would have it playing perhaps four bar phr...

Re: Help find a genre for this music ?

I know what you mean, but once you've made the song, sometimes it can be baffling to identify the genre.

Re: Lars Domino - Ingenting (Christmas album 2021)

The intonation on the recorders is OK. I mean it might not be quite in tune, but it doesn't take away from the music, adds to it actually.

Recorders are impossible to keep in tune anyway, and if you try to play with different dynamics, it changes the tuning. Terrible things really, but good too.

Re: Is there any lightweight functional Distros now?

But I have the AMD duron machine repowered with a XP 2400+ which I got for free with some free NOS motherboards (just had to pay for postage) and have installed Windows ME on that machine and it is blistering fast. I wanted to see if Windows ME was that bad after all. It is quite easy to break, but ...

Re: Is there any lightweight functional Distros now?

Actually It has a duel core 1.65 GHz AMD processor so it is pretty fast. With a video card and Windows XP it is fast enough to run Far Cry at decent quality settings. I've been trying to install Windows XP on it for testing purposes, but for some reason the USB won't load, and I just found out about...

Re: Is there any lightweight functional Distros now?

The Debian kernel is really massive now. I had issues with installing it on my other thin client which runs as a Pi-Hole DNS server. It was quite difficult to get the Debian kernel onto the 1 GB drive whilst leaving enough room for the Pi-hole software. I was only able to use Debian 9 as Debian 10 w...

Re: One has to go...

Yeah you can get them really cheap here too. I usually only use one screen, but for audio work it would be nice to have two so you can have the mixer on one screen. Would be extra nice to have some hardware knobs or sliders routed to the mixer via midi so you can just twist the knobs or move the sli...

Re: Is there any lightweight functional Distros now?

I tried that I think but the interface wasn't that good. Maybe it is possible to change the desktop environment?

Re: Lars Domino - Blodspår i snön (Christmas album 2021)

I managed to get the whole album, it is excellent, am listening to it now. Lovely to hear the singing in Swedish. I can't understand anything, but that's OK. We mostly hear English in New Zealand and a wee bit of Te Reo Maori.

Install LTS version of ubuntu studio like 20.04 than you can keep using it for probably 6 years without changing version number.

Re: One has to go...

You could get another monitor and plug it into your laptop so you have two screens. Would look like having two laptops.

Is there any lightweight functional Distros now?

I booted up an old 700 MHz AMD duron machine which had a historical Ubuntu 11.04 on it, and despite having on 768 MB RAM and a 700 MHz processor, it ran real fast, really responsive and everything. Also the footprint for the distributions were much smaller back then. Being the mainline distribution ...

Whoops, I see you already responded in the other page! Same person! Traces of blood in the snow, I missed some of the title when I translated.

Re: Staffan Melin - Merry Christmas(s) [neoclassical]

I am happy with just anything, but would prefer to avoid cheesy music about Santa and things like that. Instrumental stuff, or stuff about how the season makes you feel is fine. But really anything is OK, it is open source, so anyone can put in whatever they like. It would be nice to have a cool Chr...
