Re: Free Latin Trumpet SF2

I was actually thinking about getting samples from a whole brass band as it would make it much nicer when doing an arrangement rather than listening to the terrible GM sound which don't reflect the actual makeup of a brass band.

Re: How to install Carla on Ubuntu Studio 18.04

I can't download the package, for some reason I can't connect to https://launchpadlibrarian.net/

Are you able to access it?

How to install Carla on Ubuntu Studio 18.04

I have Ubuntu Studio 18.04 installed on my studio computer, and I would like to install Carla on it to try and run a Windows VST. I have Ubuntu Studio 20.04 installed on my television computer, which I use for watching youtube videos, music etc, and I notice that 20.04 comes with Carla pre-installed...

Re: trying to find Linux daily driver

I'm using Lubuntu at the moment on my netbook, as it is fast and my netbook is old. It doesn't have too many programmes pre-installed which is nice.

I have been using Ubuntu Studio for my audio workstations as it is already set up for audio. It has a lot of pre-installed programmes.

48k is a pretty high rate anyway, CDs are only 44.1k and they sound pretty good!

Re: Midi Drum Patterns

I couldn't find any patterns on there which were longer than 8 bars anyway, so I doubt there is going to be any amazing human performances which are going to last for a whole song. Most of the patterns were much shorter that anyway. I would think that midi drum patterns would be more used for a cert...

No, but that way noone is getting in trouble for using patterns.

Re: Midi Drum Patterns

Yeah, electronic music typically is happy with a strictly on time rhythm. I guess if one just wanted the pattern, and as these can't be copyrighted, one could just select the pattern they liked, quantise it, and then randomise slightly, just a few percent, that way it certainly wouldn't infringe any...

Re: Midi Drum Patterns

A piece of plywood and a rubber mallet could create a good bass drum sample.

Re: Midi Drum Patterns

We are concerned with patterns here. Why sample performances these days when it is so easy to synthesise drum sounds or make your own samples, or use some PD samples. Synthesisers with drums on them are so common these days, one is almost tripping over them. It does make sense that one cannot copyri...

Re: Midi Drum Patterns

According to this, you can't copyright patterns, just performances, so the midi patterns can be used.

How to use these? They are not in MIDI form as far as I can see?

I find that I have to try and use different USB ports sometimes if I'm getting noise.

Re: Having difficulty setting up computer for audio

Are you sure that your project sample rate is running at the same sample rate as your sound card? This caused periodic dropouts for me when one was at 44.1 KHz and one was a 48 KHz.

Re: Free Latin Trumpet SF2

Slightly off topic, but I play the Soprano Cornet, and can get a reasonable tone. I can record this if anyone wants to make a sound font out of it. Just let me know what you would like me to play, and I can do it.

It sounds similar to a trumpet, but has a darker tone, but brighter than a Bb cornet.
