Re: pipewire latency compensation roundtrip

On my setup roundtrip latency is dependent on the selected buffer size, so better check that. That means that maybe you have to reset the latency every time you change buffersize. If you know the node-id of your input and output port, you can set the latency compensation value with pw-cli as follows...

Re: Harrison's bundle packages, the new ones.

I didn't check it, but I'm quite certain that the SSL part of the bundles need wine (and even that will be a hassle because of iLok) while for the Harrison plugins there are separate Linux installers without iLok etc.(, yet?) I don't like the fact that Harrison got bought by SSL, too. Previously I b...

Re: I recently updated layer engine

Just gave it a quick try. Works quite well. Great work. My two thoughts about it: I'm not quite sure what the knobs next to the LFO frequency do. But maybe I'm just a dummy. And: it would be very nice to be able to stop the LFO completely and scan manually through the loaded file/selection so one co...

Re: NeuralNote

Thanks for the extra hints. Maybe I'll have another look at it later. Just to clarify: What I did was I cloned the linux branch of both repos (NeuralNote and the libonnxruntime). Furthermore, I (think I) did manage to compile the patched linux version of libonnxruntime sucessfully and I extracted it...

Re: NeuralNote

Looks promising. However, being the compiling-dummy that I am, I wasn't able to compile it, although I tried for hours, hehe. I tried to follow the different documentations but I'm currently stuck at NeuralNote_build/Tests/../Lib/Model/Features.h:9:10: schwerwiegender Fehler: onnxruntime_cxx_api.h: ...

Re: Problems with Harrison Audio plugins?

To get the guis to work smoothly, it can also be that you have to prepend 'env vblank_mode=0' when starting your DAW.

Re: Problems with Harrison Audio plugins?

As the older versions work for you (and you are on Ubuntu) I doubt it will help, but just so that it has been said: The AVA Plugins also fail if you got the wrong curl version. You need the one build with gnutls support.

I have used Acon Digital Restoration Suite with great sucess already. It is not Linux native but runs well on wine.

Re: Change to Linux - "ILok", "eLicenser" USB pens.

Yeah, can confirm that iLok does have problems on Linux. You can get it to run when using licenses on the machine rather than the dongle BUT with every update (especially wine update that is) there is a risk of licensing problems (eg. the new wine versions can make iLok think your pc is now a differ...

Re: Very easy way to set Pipewire sample rate and buffer size defaults!

I recently put those and other commands into my config of the custom-menu extension for gnome. This way I have a drop-down menu on my bar where I can set my buffer sizes etc. with just one click. Quite neat, to be honest. Fingers crossed that the extension won't fail too soon, due to Gnome updates :D

Re: Fedora - Anyone use it for music?

I'm on Fedora since several months now, and I love it. Wasn't making more actual music with any other distro in my 3 year long linux journey. Although pipewire seemed to work fine at first I discovered that the latency when doing a recording-loop-back-test wasn't staying the same, so I switched back...

Re: Spot eq

From what I can see in the video it seems to me that with spot eq he simply means EQing just parts of an audioclip with different settings (and eventually print these EQs into the file). This should be quite easily be doable with clip fx in reaper for example. Can't speak for other DAWs. Edit: typos

Re: JACK - latency compensation not staying the same

Sorry for hijacking this thread but it seems my issue fits really well in here. For me, as I work in audio for a living, it's crucial that latency is compensated spot on sample accurate. With classic jack and a simple loop-back test, I was able to compensate for timing offsets while recording using ...

Re: Supported Audio Interface Information

Hey @TheYke >> how has your experience so far been with the iRig Pro? I'm thinking of getting one... I'm running Kubuntu 20.04 and looking for a nice super-portable interface. What do you think? Hi, just finished my degree in sound design. did all my assessments with my linux laptop and the iRig Pr...
