Re: Unubtu20.04 /linux-image-5.x-lowlatency, useful or not?
First of all, xruns are not to be taken this seriously except if you record/overdub. Having a low latency is not having better sound. The lowlatency kernel will help you getting lower latency if you want to. Though the normal kernel can cope quite well with not too heavy projects. Just install it, t...

Re: odin2
Just anywhere you want. I created a .odin hidden folder where I store the presets. Some of them are really good, some are quite basic or boring though. Sound design is much more than stacking oscillators and slapping a filter on them. The dev said he'll organize and change the volume of them before ...

Re: online music instruction ?
Hi Dave, thanks for your input on this, it's really valuable as a lot might stay this way for a while. It's also an opportunity to teach people in remote/far away places. I agree that theory might be asynchronous, but I'd add a short 1-on1 session for questions and also create accountability where y...

Hi, thanks for this.
I'll give it a try soon.
Do you need help with anything? Visuals? Test? Presets?

Re: Installing a Liquorix Kernel
I installed it on Ubuntu and it worked a treat. The system felt snappier, and I could use the Nvidia hardware acceleration, which was not possible with the normal low-latency kernel.

Re: Let's talk notation, hacker style!
The question I have at the moment is how do we go about it with kids? My daughter has started playing the violin. She'll eventually have to learn traditional classical notation. If I introduce her to another type, is it a good move or just another useless attempt to be different? Do you need to lear...

Re: Tring to understand low latency. Is latency fixed?
I'd like to add, don't fret over latency except if you overdub something or play something where you need live ITB monitoring (hardware monitoring usually doesn't cause latency). Many think it's a kind of benchmark how good their system is. That's just not true. It's just faster with more risks. Aud...

Re: Let's talk notation, hacker style!
Hey there, First of all thanks a lot for talking about this. It just opened a new world of possibilities. I'm a classically trained violinist, so sight reading music notation isn't a problem for me. I see your point about trying to improve upon the traditional system. I really like the 6+6 paradigm ...

Re: Getting started with music
Hey there and welcome.
You seem to have a solid hardware and software basis to really live your music.
I like that you commit to the Linux audio modular way with non-sequencer and luppp. I find it quite rewarding to craft once own perfect setup.
Keep us tuned

Well there is bandcamp. You stream as much as you want and if you want to, you buy the music.
No DRM.
And they are a nice bunch of people

Re: CALF Audio plug-in
Hey there, There might be some confusion about how you use which software. Audacity is a destructive audio editor. Calf plugins are not designed for this but for digital audio workstation. Ardour allows you to work on multiple files with as many or as few channels as you want. Just patch the plugins...

Re: recording EQ, compressors, etc plugins
Well from everywhere I read they always say try to make the source as clean and usable as possible. Even if I plug my pedal amplifier into alive system before the product is delivered the engineer will clean it up. Everywhere I read they Shake that tracking is clean as possible so less work when it...

Re: recording EQ, compressors, etc plugins
If you're monitoring both your input and the software, it's normal that it's phasey. I like to commit to hardware before recording, but I really don't see the point of doing it with software. Still, if you want to do it, load a plugin host with some plugins and stick it before your signal goes into ...
