Re: Why learn music theory?
What got me interested in this rabbit hole is the question, could strong AI make music that is virtually indistinguishable from human written music. Isn't that just an incredibly cumbersome form of algorithmic composition? Seems to me that whoever wrote the ai is really responsible for the music. N...

@Floyd
Those examples are not plugins.
Most or not all features from non mixer and protrekkr are available in Ardour.
I'm not sure what mod-ui does.

Re: Novation Impulse61 midi keyboard
I'm not sure what steps you took, but perhaps this is a good read: https://askubuntu.com/questions/147052/ ... vice-12-04
Are you using the Jack audio server? Then check if your keyboard shows up in qjackctl.

Re: AV Linux + KX Studio
From the manual on http://bandshed.net/pdf/AVL2019UserManual.pdf : A very important part of the initial setup process is to have Ardour scan for Audio plugins, the scan doesn't take very long and doing this now will ensure that the hundreds of pre-installed Audio Plugins included in AV Linux will al...

Disclaimer: I have no experience with package managers. I've tried to download the source code directly from https://kokkinizita.linuxaudio.org/linuxaudio/downloads/index.html and also got an error: In file included from /usr/local/include/clxclient.h:31:0, from styles.h:25, from styles.cc:21: /usr/...

Re: Rubberband LV2 source code
Sorry, missed the specifics on the lv2. Reading https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/ubuntu/gcc5-deps/+build/11784619 it seems that version 1.8.2 was built 2016-12-27. The files in https://github.com/falkTX/rubberband/tree/master/rubberband.lv2 appear to have been last updated on the same...

Re: Looking for stripped down WAV editor, needs measure/beats and looping, JACK
Simple possible workflow in Audacity:
1. Create clicktrack with chosen tempo.
2. Apply beat finder.
3. If required, shift the beat track to align with the start of the click samples.
Now you can select all other tracks using snapping based on the beat track.

Groeten uit Nederland
Greetings from The Netherlands, Piano and guitar are my main instruments, though I try about anything I can get my hands on. Computer software is another interest and in the past I was always looking for the newest software, including synths and DAWs. Nowadays I've settled on Yoshimi, Sequencer64 an...
