Re: Pipewire for pro audio
Thanks so much for your tips! How much of Jack is needed when running Pipewire? For instance, when installing jackd2 (if I'm not wrong) you get the question of whether you wish to enable realtime processing. Is this already done with Pipewire? With a functional Pipewire system, how much of the addi...

Re: Spectral compressors and expanders recommendations
Is anyone getting multiple windows: Z:\usr\bin\lin-vst-servertrack.exe.so when launching your DAW? Each for every opened VST in a project. If one is closed, it breaks Jack right away. Opening a project and having, let's say, 7 to 10 plugins, suddenly many terminal windows open with the header Z:\us...

Re: DecentSampler content keeps getting better!
My only regret about Decent Sampler is that the software (versus the various sampled instruments) doesn't seem to be FLOSS. I've suggested opening it to Daniel in the past, but without success. AFAICT, it has excellent coverage of the feature-space of SFZ, along with UI improvements, as well as the...

Re: Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
I've compiled a version of ardour7 but the clip functionality wasn't really working and it was crashing often. I suspect that Mixbus is not a 7..pre0 https://rsrc.harrisonconsoles.com/mixbus/mixbus32c-live-manual/8/en/topic/what-s-new-in-32c-v8 , but Ardour is https://nightly.ardour.org/list.php 42...

Re: Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
Is there a midi clip launcher program, where it receives a midi note and it plays a midi pattern sequence that was stored for that note and sends it back to the DAW? Basically a midi sampler, but without a sound source? Like seq24 but possibly updated ? Hmm, wouldnt the upcoming clip launching feat...

Re: Airwindows Discussion
Try powersag before the cab section. It's not really intended as a guitar poweramp emulation plugin, but does add something close to it, I think. I use that in my own setup, although I use hardware analog preamps and then let the software handle the rest. I prefer my IRs over Cabs though. I think t...

Trying to measure latency for both Jack and ALSA, stuck at ALSA
Hello all! So I have been doing some round trip latency testing on my system. And for jack_iodelay everything seems to work fine. But after reading some old posts here that I saw after Gareus/x42 mentioned them over on Ardour forums, together with suggestions of skipping jack and running straight AL...

Re: Latency Tip
Just thought I'd chime in with my latency results, or the best I could get where it was stable for use. Focusrite Scarlet 2i4: 48k/64 - 4 periods: 389.430 frames 8.113 ms -- qjack reports 5.33ms 48k/32 - 4 periods: 290.828 frames 6.059 ms -- qjack reports 2.67ms I found 4 periods to give me the best...

Re: Spectral compressors and expanders recommendations
I tried after clean reboots, I tried killing all wine processes, etc. Same behaviour every time.
Considering only these plugins have given me this problem, I'd rather just not use them for now
It's working fine for everthing else I throw at it. (although I barely use any windows plugins anymore)

I can recommend... https://www.patreon.com/posts/specomp-51285294 OK, it's not native but it has proofed as a stable 'wrapped one' for me. I come from Ableton Live and the SPECOMP reminds me of the 'Glue Compressor (Cytomic 'The Glue') that I used a lot on busses. Just wanna mention that ...

This guy seem to talk about it a bit at least, testing a couple different sizes:

Re: Snare with cymbal sitting on top
I don't think it has a specific name besides "snare with a cymbal on it". I came across this thing myself when at about 4am one night I was watching some "drummer reacts to snarky puppy" video where he pointed out . And AFAIK it should work fine with just about any cymbal (differ...

Re: Airwindows Discussion
I just retested on 48k/32bit (4 samples, 3 just makes jack freak out here) - and it runs perfectly fine with no xruns, about 40% DSP use with 20ish airwindows plugins and a couple other ones in Carla. That's great! What interface are you using? The traditional advice is that most USB interfaces han...
