Re: Newbie: Need recommendation for distro for running Wine/VST

Personally, it has worked just fine on most of the distros I have tried (Solus, Manjaro, Debian/Ubuntu based). I didnt really like Ubuntu Studio personally, general performance was pretty bad on my desktop for some reason. For general ease of use of the kxstudio repositories I'd go for an Ubuntu fla...

Yeah I've only been using it on plugins like the T-Racks ones. Haven't had any problems.

Re: AVLinux and ArdourVST

Quite a few of the windows vsts I run worked fine in Ardour after exporting as LV2 through Carla. Even using less cpu than winebridged in carla.

A kick in the nuts is when you state that people should always code for free. Any coder can kill you for such statements, and I won't judge them for such a righteous action.

Fair point indeed.

Does anyone have previous version 3.9.9?

Well that's a kick in the nuts.

Just to clarify, running an older version and stopping it from updating should work?

Does neither Ardour or Carla support vst3? Can't seem to get it running.

Is there a volume slider on the keyboard that is set to zero?

EDIT: Solved

So, it seems the keys send midi over channel 4, so I had to go to the mixer and select 4 on channel. (Alesis V49)

(Solved) No sound from MIDI Keyboard and Zyn/Yoshimi

So this is a weird one. I can see the keyboard in zyn-fusion light up when I press the keys on my keyboard (and all other synths and plugins work with it), but I get no sound when I do it. If i however press the keys with my mouse in zyn-fusion it works. It's the same for all the zyn/yoshimi apps. D...

Re: New KXStudio Repositories

A lot of "Intel Based System" specified there. What about my upcoming Ryzen 3000 purchase?

Edit: After searching it seems all newer AMD CPUs since "the mid 2000s support SSE2 which is the requirement here. Just a bit odd wording.

Re: Hey there! Chris checkin in

For sure as I delve deeper there will be questions a-flowing. For now I'm mainly using Carla to just play around and "jam". Havent really recorded anything besides some guitar doodles so far in my life, but will definitely be posting something when I have it. So far I've been watching some...

I migrated from Solus to Ubuntu Studio, and general performance seems to have taken a significant hit for me as well. Everything is really sluggish compared.

Hey there! Chris checkin in

Hello! Long term Linux and music hobbyist here. Mainly a guitar player, recently got myself an electric, a midi keyboard and a focusrite 2i4 second gen. To my surprise everything was quite straightforward to get working on both Solus and Ubuntu Studio, although Carla and a bunch of vsts/plugins seem...
