Re: Synth controller UI question

You ought to look into Zynthian https://zynthian.org/. It's a complete hardware/software package, but you can just download the software and adapt it to your Pi4 and touchscreen controller. There's a very active developer/user community where you could seek help.

I rarely start my windows 10, but every time I do, I get instantly reminded of why I went to Linux.
Microsoft seems to think they own my pc.

And that impression is 100x stronger looking at Windows 11. And of course Apple doesn't think they own your computer; Apple thinks they own your soul. :D

Re: Debian 11 Bullseye QTractor won't start [solved]

"Never buy a chromebook to run linux" might be overstating things. I've been running bare-metal installs of Ubuntu Studio on my comparatively ancient Acer C720 (a $25 hamfest score :) ) for a couple of years with no problems beyond my usual laptop complaint of "never enough USB ports!...

Re: Please share your gnu/linux music production setup

Going PORTABLE! We're heading off to Alaska and I wasn't able to put together any working ham radio gear for the cruise, so I figured why not work on some music? So I put together this setup that'll fit in my backpack and leave enough room for the camera and lenses I always take on vacation. :D The ...

Re: Please share your gnu/linux music production setup

It's a never-ending journey, a trail to be tracked by the scattered remains of previous iterations of the setup littering the side of the road behind me. :D Let's see where we are now... Name: Still Bruce, tho if I buy any more gear it'll be "Mud" (at least with the wife! :D ) Computer: ho...

Re: Arturia Midi Driver - has anybody got it working in WINE? (subject amended)

1. Nice keyboard! I like it, though I do have issues with the LCD being more or less unreadable unless I stand up and look straight down at it. I'm looking into replacing it with a different LCD module. 2. I read that you created a Wine 32 bit "wine bottle" aka "wine prefix". Ma...

Re: Arturia Midi Driver - has anybody got it working in WINE? (subject amended)

@mrz80: which Arturia Keylab do you have? I have a first generation Keylab49. IMG_20220216_214314.640.jpg MIDI Control Center installs and runs fine. The Arturia MIDI driver installs. MIDI Control Center still doesn't talk to the Keylab, though. Sync button is greyed out, and MIDI Control Center ca...

Re: Arturia Midi Driver - has anybody got it working in WINE? (subject amended)

So tantalizingly close, and yet still so freaking far off... System config: Xubuntu 22.04 with Ubuntustudio-installer - all packages and backports, liquorix kernel, wine-staging 7.10, OG Keylab49 With yabridge 3.8.1 installed, I can get Analog Lab 4 and Analog Lab 5 to run. They change patches and r...

ALMOST everything is different from when I first posted couple of years ago, so... Name: Bruce (well, that part's still the same) Usage: Home studio, music arranging, learning tool (also my work PC, no dedicated music computer (yet)) Hardware used: home built PC - 4GHz FX8350, 12GB RAM, GT730 video ...

Re: Please share your gnu/linux music production setup

Only time I've recorded myself was through the church's PA, pulling the house feed into Audacity with one of those little Behringer stereo USB bricks. Worked just fine.

Re: Please share your gnu/linux music production setup

Mostly a guitarist, just launching into the whole "computer as studio" thing after successfully completing a rather involved arrangement for a Church program last Christmas. It was a bit of a steep learning curve, but it beat using a razor blade, scotch tape, and five billion photocopies o...
