Re: which Windows orchestral vsts and samples emulate well?
I've read a few people mention yabridge, which I didn't know about. How does it compare to LinVST when it comes to bridging Windows VSTs on Linux? LinVST is the one I've been using so far and it seems to be working fine, as I can use most VSTs I use in Carla, Ardour or others. That definitely worked...

Re: Anyone got Spitfire Audio's LABS working on Linux?
Hey, I'm an old user of labs with wine too and had the exact same problem with the new plugin, and this helped me fix it: https://www.reddit.com/r/spitfireaudio/comments/1felyfv/guide_how_to_downgradefix_the_spitfire_labs/ You basically downgrade SpitfireAudio plugin installer app, and use a hex ed...

Re: Playing with a DNAfx GiT Core on Linux
Hi everyone, Any chance on a tip how to make linux recognize the DNAfx? I use Ubuntu on my main laptop, Mint on the other one. I also tried Ubuntu Studio (USB boot) but that one also did now recognize the effect. Main main DAW is Audacity that I love for simplicity and I use it only to record a rif...

Re: Playing with a DNAfx GiT Core on Linux
I was actually intending opening it up when I get a chance to look up the chips in question and see what data I can find on em to better see how they work, would that sort of info help you out with your project? In my case, there's not much I can learn from hardware, I think: Niccolo (the author of...

Re: Playing with a DNAfx GiT Core on Linux
I made an account on here just to reply to this thread haha I just bought one of these myself and it should be arriving tomorrow, once I check out it's sounds with some headphones I immediately intend to go ahead and try out the tool you've created. I'd love to help troubleshoot it and help improve...

Re: Labyrinths (cover)
I enjoyed your playing, so I tracked down the original, so I'd know how honest you were to the roots  and you really did a great cover on a difficult piece! One can only hope that the band can still do as well as you did. I don't listen to much music, so it's cool to hear that range of feelin...

Re: Labyrinths (cover)
Hi! Nice work on the whole production, nice stable of instruments too! Haha bookend black and white strats! I admire you learning piano when you're so accomplished on guitar, I can fake some Hammond organ stuff but piano is unforgiving! Nicely done, things got massive very quickly there. Thanks, I'...

Re: radio free fedi
Seems interesting. LinuxMusicians should have their own pod on Funkwhale !! Unfortunately Radio Free Fedi was closed at the end of 2024, but there's a new effort that's trying to take the baton: https://indieart.support/ At the moment it's just a directory of who contributed media to RFF, as a disc...

Labyrinths (cover)
Hi all, this isn't an original track, but I thought I'd share it anyway, because who knows when my new album will be ready  As part of my New Year's resolution, I've basically forced myself to get back to study and practice more, which is why I decided to get back to the piano as well. I took l...

Re: Playing with a DNAfx GiT Core on Linux
Great that you work on an editor. I found a review from Ola the chugger: https://youtu.be/Uj87A27qPUQ If you get a dozen great tones for under $100, it's golden! Cheers Yes, I did watch the same video, it was one of the things that convinced me to get it! Tone wise I'm still exploring, as the sound...

Re: Playing with a DNAfx GiT Core on Linux
Just as a FYI to those that may stumble on this post because they got the same device, I wrote a detailed blog post on the current status of my editor, and how I used it to basically add MIDI support to the device: https://blog.lminiero.it/dnafx-editor/ Unfortunately I tried asking Harley Benton for...

Re: Carol of the Hells
Interesting take on the song, very nicely done! I love the interaction of the guitars with the orchestration at around 1:28-ish. Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! The interaction you mentioned was partly inspired by the so-called "Sogna metal", a genre where extreme metal is actually very ro...

Re: Playing with a DNAfx GiT Core on Linux
FYI, I worked on an editor of my own, using the existing projects and some Wireshark USB captures as a starting point. An early version, that can already downloaf/convert/upload presets, is now availabot on GitHub: https://github.com/lminiero/dnafx-editor The plan is to make it more controllable (e....
