Re: Fedora Pipewire Low Latency Audio Configuration Reference Guide V.1.02

Here's Red Hat's docs. They are much more complete: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/monitoring_and_managing_system_status_and_performance/getting-started-with-tuned_monitoring-and-managing-system-status-and-performance#using-the-tuned-cpu-partitioning-profile...

Re: Fedora Pipewire Low Latency Audio Configuration Reference Guide V.1.02

Here's the most recent and complete documentation:

https://github.com/redhat-performance/t ... oc/manual/

And here's the 2019 presentation:

https://tuned-project.org/docs/tuned_devconf_2019.pdf

There really isn't much documentation out there yet that I can find.....

Here's a Low Latency TuneD profile: https://github.com/redhat-performance/tuned/blob/master/profiles/latency-performance/tuned.conf # # tuned configuration # [main] summary=Optimize for deterministic performance at the cost of increased power consumption [cpu] force_latency=cstate.id_no_zero:1|3 gov...

Re: Fedora Pipewire Low Latency Audio Configuration Reference Guide V.1.02

Apparently, TuneD has been out for quite some time. It just wasn't the integrated default for Fedora, so I didn't know about it. I just found a really interesting article about it that dates all the way back to Feb. 10, 2020!! Look at how many profiles are available!!! So cool!!! https://computingfo...

Re: Fedora Pipewire Low Latency Audio Configuration Reference Guide V.1.02

Note for self: Fedora 41 was released today. One of the changes in this release is: "Make Tuned the Default Power Profile Management Daemon". This means I need to update Section 1 of my guide to reflect the new changes. As a matter of fact, a lot of the tuning options discussed in this th...

Re: Fedora Pipewire Low Latency Audio Configuration Reference Guide V.1.02

Hi @Audiojunkie. First of all, thanks for the great information you have provided! I believe installing the Pulse Audio Volume control application is not needed just for merely setting the ALSA device to the Pro Audio profile. This one-liner "works on my machine (TM)", as it has my alsa c...

I suggest visiting the Pipewire Matrix channel, the devs are very responsive.

I think @wtay avoids me after I made a stink about the latency issues Pipewire had before he added the IRQ based scheduling.

I'd like to ask him more questions.......... :)

Re: Pipewire and IRQ based scheduling

I don't hate pipewire, I hate linux audio. I so completely fucked up my audio configuration somehow, that even after deleting all my custom wireplumber settings, the volume of my audio device was reset to 40% or 36% depending on where I looked, and now also with rebooting in addition to logging out...

Re: Pipewire and IRQ based scheduling

Found out that alsamixer is still a relevant thing with pipewire. Never needed to touch it with my pulse+jack system, but anyway... An important thing to remember, is that everything audio sits on top of ALSA. Until it is replaced (I'm not saying that it's being replaced), it will always remain an ...

Re: which Windows orchestral vsts and samples emulate well?

IK Multimedia Miroslav has been one that works. Earlier selecting 'Past releases' button, and downloading direct product installer has been working, and for miroslav that button seems to exist still. And from irc comments of one friend I got impression that even getting their Install Manager runnin...

Soundiron has now Decent sampler versions in new releases:

Perhaps there is hope that one day commercial libraries will become available on Linux.

I noticed this too! I was really happy to see this!
