Tutorial?

Any tutorials on getting started with Windows VSTs in Linux? There's a lot of information here about troubleshooting problems but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly where to start. (2 decades of *nix, but very much a desktop/Linux newbie) TY!

Bob Dylan's original is 40 years old at least and I totally hate it.. but Warren Zevon covered it just before he died and it's easily one of my top 3 songs.

Guitarix maybe.. any bass amp plugins out there?

What is everyone using for bass amp plugins? If it comes to it I can reamp no problem, but I'd prefer a DI and plugin combination :)

Not a fan of Rhythmbox, better alternatives? Also Song Stores / buying music / not streaming

Bear with me I'm new to linux and multimedia coming from itunes/music land. I've totally jumped ship from Apple with an iphone to Ubuntu with a Oneplus 8T. Went full on zealot mode after getting sick of Windows and Mac privacy issues. [but i digress..] What is everyone using if you aren't using Rhyt...

Re: Updated list of Linux compatible audio interfaces

Alesis io26 + Startech firewire card (TI chip). My very first real interface.. Channel 1 died years ago but it does indeed work even with the ADAT inputs. If you need more than 17+ channels over a single cable add a couple Behringer 8200s via spdif and this probably the least expensive way to do it....

Re: Updated list of Linux compatible audio interfaces

Someone already mentioned the Focusrite 18i20 in this thread, but I'll throw in that the Focusrite OctoPre also works fine via SPDIF.

Re: Best type of vocal mic for singing players?

Live I use a Samson Q7 (if it is good enough for Richie Kotzen it's good enough for me :)). In the studio I use either an SM7B (no cloud lift, rather rack preamps) or the Q7 (mainly backing vocals). I don't have a good condenser voice. But I use condensers with my band vocalist regularly lead and ba...

Re: how to use an audio interface with wine and connect studio monitors

Brand new to all this but figured i'd chim in. I'm using a Focusrite 18i20 (similar to the Behringer 1820 (have one of those as well as a backup input when needed, works fine)) with 8 additional ADAT preamps for all audio input. Works flawlessly. I have 3 sets of monitors (Akai Pro 8", Polk dua...

Re: Ready to dive in with both feet. ;)

And up and running! Had to build wifi drivers for my RTL8812bu but otherwise was easy peasy. Still figuring a lot of things out but man o man, Linux has really come a long way! The Focusrite was basically plug and play. The Behringer monitor controller was plug and play.. and even better than in Win...

Ready to dive in with both feet. ;)

Been lurking for a while, finally decided today is the day. No stranger to Linux (started back in the Yggsdrasil and Slackware on floppies days if anyone remembers those heh) or Unix-style in general but I've never commit to it full time. Long time macOS with Parallels (Windows and Ubuntu) user, the...
