Well so far we didn't mix multiple tracks proper but we want to learn to do that too. And we did splice multiple takes with crossfades.
unfa looks very interesting, thanks!

Re: Learning audio mastering. Linux first?
We are already hitting some limits with mixing in Audacity even this early, though it does work as a basic tool. Recording as such is simply not an issue. Most of the time we don't record on the computer in real time, we use a Zoom recorder, which provides handy WAV files. Reaper would be likely to ...

Re: Learning audio mastering. Linux first?
Yes, I probably had the wrong term, I was trying to find an all-encompassing term.
Not sure if there is much use in reading theory without being able to try it in actual sound, and that's the problem here.

Learning audio mastering. Linux first?
Hello, My wife is a musician and would like to learn audio mastering (with all the parts like tuning and timing and EQ and whatever else is there). I am the IT specialist in the house. There are sources and there even are teachers but all of them rely on software and plugins that are not available u...

Re: Editing GrandOrgue MIDI files?
Thanks a lot! I'll try building from source - seems to require some libraries RHEL does not have, such as LADSPA, I'll rebuild them from Fedora, so this might take some time. In the meantime, exactly the same issue happens with importation in Audacity, even though *that* should be using linear times...

Re: Editing GrandOrgue MIDI files?
MidiEditor unfortunately has the same problem. I can not check with Ardour as I have no idea how to deploy it without JACK. I'll try to use compilers from Midi to text/csv. EDIT. Good old midicomp https://github.com/markc/midicomp parses the file perfectly, the timing for each line is in millisecond...

Re: Editing GrandOrgue MIDI files?
Thanks for all the very interesting discussion! I do think that there should be a check box as to whether one wants to adapt the MIDI to the existing tempo or to sun it exactly unchanged, as there can be use cases for both approaches. I was not aware of MIDI Editor, which seems to be built specifica...

Re: Editing GrandOrgue MIDI files?
Thanks! I really would appreciate if you could look into this. Yes, by the nature of GrandOrgue it is normal that linear time would be used, because the software knows nothing about musical time.
It also uses nonstandard MIDI signals for stops.

Re: Editing GrandOrgue MIDI files?
Here is an example MIDI file from GrandOrgue: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hv2Qojv0ClNl_jojF4B-8jIXKE732AUq/view?usp=sharing I would really appreciate of you could look as to what I can modify to edit this file. As for the second question: I am trying to use the internal MESS FluidSynth. I do no...

Editing GrandOrgue MIDI files?
Hello, I would like to edit MIDI files produced by GrandOrgue, in order to correct any minor playing mistakes. The files are to be consumed by GrandOrgue again for final rendering into WAV. I am quite new to MIDI editing, and frankly chose MusE because I could install it from Flatpak. I am facing tw...

Re: Setting up real-time organ playing
Well Windows is available on that machine too. So could you please give a link to Kontakt? Also, what software plays SFZ and GIG sample libraries under Linux? One problem is that the machine is a laptop with an AMD A6 CPU and 4 gigabytes of RAM. I don't expect enough performance from Windows, heavy ...

What she needs is emulation of a pipe organ, not of an electric organ. And when I looked at Aeolus I found a number of small zipfiles...
I would try an emulator for pipe organ if it as a workable GUI. I can't expect her to deal in scripting.

Setting up real-time organ playing
Hello, I would like to set up a home organ training rig. The solution will include a keyboard with a USB-MIDI output and a pedalboard with a USB-MIDI output. (I can name where we plan to get it, but only if asked - I don't want to be plugging a company before ever trying their products). What I want...

Hi from Ireland
Hello, I'm not actually a musician. But I'm a Linux-oid all right and in fact I work for Red Hat as a technical writer. However I am writing here in a personal capacity only :) And I am also the HUSBAND of a very strong pianist and organist. And of cours eI do tech support and setup for her. Which i...
