Re: Patchance (JACK Patchbay) first pre-release

Seriously man, will you quit whining? If you don't like apps built on Python, you are free to not use them. And spare us of your rants against any other unrelated softwares you have a preferance against. Here, I followed the installation instructions and built the app on MX 23.1. It just works. 2023...

Re: ARTURIA AudioFuse 16Rig

Yeah, my point wasn't that the feature set for the mixer MIDI mapping was lacking, but that any setting on the device which is not MIDI mappable will be completely unavailable on Linux. On closer inspection, that turned out to be wrong, as they have included a lot of parameters on the settings menu ...

Re: ARTURIA AudioFuse 16Rig

From what I've seen in the YouTube reviews, only the mixer will be MIDI controllable, and not everything else. And none of the other interfaces from Arturia so far has had any Linux support.

Have you also tried to measure the actual round trip latency?

Pipewire channel indexing

So I've recently switched to Pipewire, and the channels on my audio interface are zero-indexed: channel_indexing.png In computer programming, zero-based numbering makes a lot of sense. In audio enginering, it does not. It is a bit confusing when working with more than a couple of channels, and I'm u...

alsamixer f***** me again! (or, Pipewire just works)

Man, I was in the process of writing a long detailed post about how I was unable to capture any sound from my audio device after installing MX 23, and switching to Pipewire. Playback was working like a charm out of the box, even with Ardour via pw-jack, but I could not capture any audio, in any way ...

Re: Debian 12 "Bookworm"

And gnome-calculator uses another different theme. I think it uses GTK 4 with libadwaita. You can configure that more or less according to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GTK#GTK_3_and_GTK4 Gnome have decided that GTK apps shall live in a libertarian utopia, where each app will draw their own wind...

Re: chain audio interfaces with ADAT to get more inputs?

NachoRR I have moved on from the AudioFuse for quite a long time ago. I did not have any issues with its performance. But in the end, the lack of Linux-compatible software made me go for another solution: I now have a Behringer UMC 1820, with 8 ins and 8 outs, and a Behringer Monitor 1 as a simple ...

Wow, these are amazing news! I was already considering getting a 2nd hand Focusrite interface, but now I maybe just get a brand new one.

Re: AVL-MXE: options for upgrading Ardour?

Just a quick tip here @gregariousgus : Ardour release 8.0 is just around the corner. If you choose the Single Payment plan for Ardour, you will get access to a packaged installer of the latest version, and of all following minor versions for that release*. So if you wait until 8.0 is released, and b...

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...

Pipewire should at least sort out these features before releasing 1.0:

  • Automatic switch of sink/source when new a device is connected

  • Remembering mute states

If the class compliant mode works well enough, shouldn't they be hassling them to release an OS agnostic version of Totalmix instead? Or at least an API to the controls?
