Re: chain audio interfaces with ADAT to get more inputs?

I am not familiar with Focusrite devices, so I can't speak to your case. In my case, however, I have ADAT set up using a Steinberg audio device into an Arturia AudioFuse. This required some configuration on both devices, and neither have configuration software available on Linux, so I had to do it o...

Roundtrip latency in Jack vs Ardour

Can some explain to me the difference between setting up Extra Latency in Jack vs the Measure Latency function in Ardour :?: I've setup an outboard loop going out of my audio interface, through a couple of analog processors, and back into the audio interface. When I measure the roundtrip latency wit...

Re: AVLinux 2020.5.10 post install issues, Lexicon Omega, Crackling, AVA Plugins, RT Kernel question

4) I would like to test the RT Kernel. How do I install that kernel correctly so I can go back and forth between the default low latency kernel and the RT kernel? (getting Grub to let me boot either on startup?) I'm on a previous version, so I don't know if this applies to your version, but I get m...

Re: Thread for AV Linux 2020.4.10 Issues

I'm now up and running on the lowlatency kernel from the AV Linux repos. Will wait and see whether it solves the problem of the freezes. In installing the kernel, I encountered the follow issue: The EFI runtime is disabled on the RT kernel, which resulted in the following warning when running grub-i...

Re: Thread for AV Linux 2020.4.10 Issues

My computer is a Dell Precision 3431, which comes with Ubuntu 18.01 preinstalled, and is as close as you come "Linux certified". It runs on a Intel Core i5 9500.

I do run the stock RT-kernel. I'll try and give the lowlatency a spin.

Re: Thread for AV Linux 2020.4.10 Issues

My system tends to freeze up, most likely due to depleted memory. My computer has 8GB of RAM, and it usually runs on 50-80% of capacity, with swap not being utilized. I suspect that the system freezes whenever more memory needs to be allocated than are available either as unused RAM, or buffers/cach...

Ardour + multi-interface setup

I'm using Ardour as my DAW, running Jack2 as my audio daemon, set up with Cadence. I have a 12 channel audio interface, with various gear connected, including Elektrons Digitakt and Digitone sampler/synthesizer. Elektron recently released new firmware for the Digis, which enables support for USB Cla...

Send/receive SysEx using Jack?

I'm using MIDI SysEx as an interface to a couple of Elektron synths (Digitone and Digitakt). It's possible to backup and restore patterns and sounds using SysEx. This works fine simply using amidi and dumping to file. However, I use Jack, and when Jack is running, amidi cannot connect to the Elektro...

Re: Midi router

Interesting project, but I didn't find the interface to be very intuitive at first glance. Is it supposed to integrate with Jack?

Re: Good compressor for mixbus

I'm not sure exactly where mixing ends and mastering begins, so in that sense I guess do a bit of both as well. Grouping things the way @bluebell does is probably good practice anyhow.

Re: Good compressor for mixbus

I would like to add a delay effect to my signal. And in this case, I want to control the dynamics on my stereo mix.

How can I know specifically what I want to achieve when I don't have the experience to know what the application is capable of? That's what I'm trying to learn here, come on.
