Re: Ubuntu 19.10 To Drop 32-Bit x86 Packages

It seems like Ubuntu aren't dropping 32 bit support. Whether this was a change of mind or miscommunication isn't clear.

Re: Presonus Studio1810c no sound

Your JACK log looks a bit different from mine. Not a problem. So JACK has fallen back to capture only. I've never seen that before. I've seen 'falling back to playback only'. That would imply this device isn't class compliant. If you get confirmation from Presonus that it is then it would be good to...

No, but JACK won't start if ALSA isn't working. Did you look in the JACK log?

Re: is Hydrogen better than Ardour for drums

JACK allows you to route audio and MIDI between applications. Here's an example that would work for your case:

Re: Best current Ubuntu for KXStudio

Finally, I would like for people to avoid ubuntu studio I disagree. If you don't want to use it -- don't, but why give Ubuntu Studio a bad name? It's not aimed at a user who can edit text files to configure the system. It's supposed to work as is. There needs to be introductory distros for people w...

So JACK starts? That means an ALSA driver has been successfully created. Look in the JACK log and you will see the ALSA parameters that worked. Or try playing something back through JACK.

I agree with @CrocoDuck.

purge and a wildcard don't belong in the same command :)

Re: USB Audio Interface JACK Xruns on Linux but not on Windows

There's the CPU spike. Does the DSP load also spike? The spike suggests that there is something that could be done in software to fix this. In your first post the outputs of lsusb and cat /proc/interrupts didn't add up. Is the BIOS the latest version? Are there BIOS settings that might affect this? ...

There are three possibilities :
  • jackd only
  • jackdbus only (what I've got)

Re: Difference between jackd and jackdbus

I'm using a tablet, so I'm kind of limited at the moment. falkTX explains it above : both jackd and jackdbus implement a jack server. one is started via command-line and having it running means the jack server is also running - jackd the other is a user service that can stop/start the jack server dy...

Re: Difference between jackd and jackdbus

I suppose to understand it it's helpful to know the difference between a daemon and D-bus.

If you go to the 'Overview' section there is a helpful diagram.

Re: USB Audio Interface JACK Xruns on Linux but not on Windows

It works on your laptop. Probably you plugged the soundcard into a USB 2 port. So it may be USB 2 works, rather than the laptop.

You could move your mouse, keyboard and everything else onto USB 1 and use USB 2 for the soundcard.
