Re: No jack, records just fine, but NO computer sound

From what is known from your description I see only two possibilities ATM: Either connect directly your wife's laprop email to your laptops' speakers. Or, have a try at filling up a few parts of the 5W1H missing in your post and resend it :) (I'd bet the second solution might have better chances tha...

Re: Audio Screen Recorder?

If you're wanting to rip audio of youtube just use youtube-dl Yes, downloading a video and extracting its audio track by the use of a video editor or even ffmpeg is what I'm doing, if I'm interested in the video's music. Takes the same bandwidth but very less time compared to recording. In general ...

Re: Guitar amps and effects suite.

Hi, I'm kind of new to comptuer based recording, so please pardon me if this question is a stupid one. I was looking at (and listening to) the audio-assualt site. It looks/sounds amazing, and I'm interested... but, I only see plugins and extensions.... So what do we plug them into and extend? Guita...

Re: Vital, Matt Tytels' new synth, free and paid versions

slightly off topic but it may help you find some peace of mind and your posts (and mine) might become shorter and your time spent on music might benefit (and so will we since I like a good part of your music :D) Each time, when I'd changed something by developing and refining my OS -which I do a lot...

Re: [ANN] New Wavetable Synth: "Vital"

I was simply asking if at least you had had any try at it as a simple user, just for the sake of having a clue or having things done or not; and not at all to summon you to embrass some puny smelling new order :) I'm not sure if it is possible to boot into my system by being a user. Simply I don't ...

Re: [ANN] New Wavetable Synth: "Vital"

@TAERSH - /root/.local/share/vital I don't know if that's the cause or a part of but I wonder why your plugin config et al are in the /root/ path tree? Have you had a try as a real user and not as a lord of thunder? I'm generally running all my Operating Systems as root! Running as user -imho- is c...

"Then Came the Last Days of May" would help, you might have the idea the 7th is missing but it's only substituted ;-)

Re: New Hardware - Need some perspective

That is interesting. I thought I was playing it safe by sticking with Nouveau. Perhaps I should try the PPA. I'm not sure what version that card likes, I'll have to look around. I'll give that a shot. I'm using the low-latency. I think it is 5.4.x. Whatever is most current in Neon/Ubuntu. Thanks. G...

Re: Running Wild

Yep, I agree, this is much better, the song was more interesting from beginning to end. ... I would suggest calling it a day for this and make a few more instead. :) ... I find I improve a lot when I keep the tempo up and do many songs. Talking mostly about mixing part of the process now, reflectin...

Re: Sonarworks crashing Ardour and Mixbus32C

In most of the cases I had of surprise crashes when running a new version or update of Mixbus on previously existing pieces I had good results with a simple rename (or delete) of the file "instant.xml" in the session dir of the afflicted piece.

Re: cannot get rid of XRuns

Setting the buffer size to 3 made it much better, thanks for that advice. I could get it running with 96000/128/3 with no VST involved, which causes a latency of 4 ms. But with my Macbook Pro 13" from 2012 (!) I get a latency of 2.7 ms at 96000 out-of-the-box with the same audio hardware. So, I sti...

Re: cannot get rid of XRuns

Since you make the presision about "class-compliant" I suppose you're using it thru USB not Firewire? If so at least try to check if using 3 buffers and 49 multiples (e-g 48kHz/128/3period buffers or 96kHz/256/3) stands any better? (As for the VST weigh I guess it's quite plugin dependant and highly...

Re: Arch and lv2

The two first obvious things I usually forget to do when this kind of case happens are: - to launch ardour from the CLI and see if anything funny shouts in the log - clean all caches and rescan all plugins (eventually cleanse all caches and check any possible culprit with LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/ar...

Re: Screen resolution question

Note that for your HDMI ports to allow more than fullHD rez they need to be at least V 1.4, and so should the HDMI cord, so that point has to be checked at least for the cord and enventually see if the screen device menu has settings about various ports and protocols. Hopefully it's just that the HD...
