Re: SFZ Player for Linux

I would like to try it out. But I've never used any Windows VSTs in Linux, so no experience there on how to go this way. I'm using Ubuntu Studio 18.04+Backports PPA. What would I need to install first (WINE-wise) to be able to install Sforzando? And how would I do it then (the installation process ...

Re: Gah....

My experience is Cadence rocks. It is hands down the best way to start and stop JACK. On the fly you can start and stop PulseAudio, Alsa2Jack MIDI or AUDIO bridges, and Loopback. I rarely use Catia as it spreads all items out upon opening and doesn't have a connect all feature, also has no means of ...

Soundtracker, goocanvas and Debian Buster

Soundtracker is under development and builds nicely on Debian Buster, however the libgoocanvas on which its Instrument Editor depends is no longer available for Buster. The quick and easy method as spelled out here https://sourceforge.net/p/soundtracker/mailman/soundtracker-discuss/thread/875a3374-6...

Multiple USB Sound Cards

I use a Fast Track Pro as my principle sound card in combination with a QuNexus and Artiphon Instrument 1, all three USB devices. I have disabled the on board sound card via the BIOS so it is does not compete with any of the USB cards. My system also loads the Loopback module, so in essence 4 sound ...

forgot to mention that the last step to get MIDI devices recognized is to move the osmid folder up one level

from

Code: Select all

app/server/native/linux/osmid/
to

Re: SevenDelay

Oddly VSTPlugins only build VST3 which has no GUI (only generic)

the LV2Plugins will build VST2 as well as LV2 which does have the GUI

https://github.com/ryukau/LV2Plugins

am able to build all except IterativeSinCluster

Carla does not recognize VST3 altough it claims to

How to Build Sonic-Pi on Debian Buster

Sonic Pi builds well on Debian Stretch but I encountered a few snags on Buster and thought I'd post my work around. The current build uses older versions of SuperCollider, sc3-plugins and aubio and is looking for a version of rugged unavailable to Buster. Making slight modifcations to two files allo...

How to build the latest SWS extensions for Reaper (Debian Buster) Linux

assuming you have a directory for building apps, from that location mkdir sws-build cd sws-build git clone http://www-dev.cockos.com/wdl/WDL.git git clone https://github.com/reaper-oss/sws.git - next step is to generate the API header file reaper_plugin_functions.h - from REAPER (run the action "[de...

Re: SFZ Player for Linux

Good comment by Audiojunkie. I have a license for Bliss and it's great. Also waited to get in on special. Likely the best option for native Linux. I wasn't aware that Redux could load SFZ files and am thankful I read this comment as after testing it, is also excellent. That being said, I really like...

Re: Best current Ubuntu for KXStudio

I could be wrong and apologize for the misinformation if I am. The KXstudio website does say "Debian 9 (Stretch) or Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial) you'll also need to enable GCC5 packages" but I do believe KX repos will install and work well up to 18.04 Bionic Beaver, but I have never attempted it so can't c...

KXStudio can only be added to any Debian flavour up to and including: Debian 9.9 Stretch Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Mint 18.3 Sylvia anything higher is a no go if you are using Ubuntu Studio if not mistaken KX repos cannot be added to a version higher than 16.04 otherwise there will be audio setting confli...

QuNexus and Linux

I thought I'd relay this information as some may find it useful. I recently purchased a QuNexus and at first was bit disappointed as some keys were not responding well. However, once I tried a few different synths I found that specific ones were actually quite amazing and the touch on all keys was a...

Thanks for advising me to wrap that in a code tag. Way less busy on the page.
