Re: Problems with PulseAudio config

I switched from Xubuntu to Manjaro in 2015 because they were 12 months behind on PulseAudio. (IIRC Ubuntu was still using v5.0 when I had v8.0) PulseAudio 16.1 has a bugfix for module-combine-sink: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/releases/v16.1 Fix frequent crashing in module-...

Re: Mute/unmute a JACK/ALSA output from command line?

To mute/unmute ALSA output I use: amixer sset --quiet --card=0 'PCM' mute amixer sset --quiet --card=0 'PCM' unmute Users on other systems may need a different card number (or name) for the correct audio device and a different name for the relevant ALSA mixer control e.g. Master, Speaker, Headphones...

Re: Odd Distorted Audio Issue in Ubuntu Studio 23.04

I'm now wondering if Canonical did something with their audio stack Ubuntu Studio seems to have done something that is not beneficial for pro-audio users we have switched to utilized PipeWire by default with the JACK and PulseAudio plugins. This means that, without configuration, all JACK and Pulse...

Re: How hard is life without PulseAudio?

I still use PulseAudio for other applications but it is started when required, like JACK

If Firefox has --enable-alsa in about:buildconfig and PulseAudio is not running, Firefox will send audio direct to ALSA without need of apulse

Re: How hard is life without PulseAudio?

Can you hack Firefox, VLC Media Player, OBS, Tangerine, and others to run using ALSA/JACK only? VLC settings allow use of ALSA or JACK. OBS can be configured to use audio sources from JACK or ALSA Firefox can support ALSA or JACK if it has been built with options --enable-alsa or --enable-jack Get ...

Re: Weird Problem - QjackCtl not showing up in xfce window switcher.

QjackCtl version 0.9.9-1 is available from Manjaro community repository

Current RT kernel is: 6.0.5-2-rt14-MANJARO and I do not see kernel 6.0.0-rt11-30-nspa in AUR. Is this a 3rd party kernel?

Re: Are Real-Time Kernels Safe?

I used to link to this Wiki page before the latest edit when it had good information about different kernels https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/RealTimeKernel?action=recall&rev=11 The last edit has no citations and seems to be just an emotive opinion If a RT kernel were to lock a use...

Re: No Jack or 48KHz Alsa

D-Bus should be negotiating the release of your audio interface from PulseAudio for use in JACK I had a similar problem with D-Bus about 3 years ago because of a minor code error and had to find the scripts from Archwiki I used before D-Bus https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PulseAudio/Examples#The_sh...

Re: RealTimeConfigQuickScan

What's the possible effect, if this value would be doubled, so: max_user_watches = 1048576 ??? Could this have any effect on reducing Xruns? setting the value too high will use more RAM max_user_watches parameter sets the maximum number of files your system can monitor with inotify (which is part o...

Re: RealTimeConfigQuickScan

Checking checking sysctl inotify max_user_watches... < 524288 - not good increase max_user_watches by adding 'fs.inotify.max_user_watches = 524288' to /etc/sysctl.conf and rebooting Use this to set the value for max_user_watches echo 'fs.inotify.max_user_watches = 524288' | sudo tee -a /etc/sysctl....

Re: AVL MXE 32bit - Where is the installer?

This was posted on MX forum recently by the MX developer:
https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 78#p625578

I broke the desktop icon. I just pushed a change, but for now use

Code: Select all

sudo minstall
to launch installer.

PulseAudio module-jack-sink has a connect option to disable automatic connection to system_out pactl load-module module-jack-sink channels=2 connect=no https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Documentation/User/Modules/#module-jack-sink and jack_connect commands can add the connections ...

Re: lexicon omega: 2 channels instead of 4 ?

same error as before

Code: Select all

ALSA: cannot set channel count to 4 for capture
check if QjackCtl settings changed to 2 capture channels
reboot system if new settings are not being recognised

when JACK is started with 2 capture channels, the alsa_in command can add the other 2 channels

Re: Starting jack in terminal, Cadence does not "see" it

Could you use Patchage instead of Catia?

I suspect you have jackd installed if Cadence cannot see it

if jackd is replaced with jack2 the same start command should work - /usr/bin/jackd
but if jackd was replaced with jack-dbus may need to adjust start command to - /usr/bin/jackdbus
