Re: Ultralite AVB

I wonder if selecting spdif as the clock source would help with the noise problem? It may cause other problems though :? Makes no difference what clock source is selected, as soon as the alsa driver probes sample rates, there will be clicks/noise. I wish I had the time/bandwidth to write a driver f...

Re: Ultralite AVB

It still doesn't really make sense to me why it behaves differently given how almost identical the two variants are to each other. Thanks for the update. Is there the possibility to somehow lock the samplerate of the device (no matter if ES or not) ? My main problem with using the Ultralite as a no...

Re: Ultralite AVB

The only difference in vendor mode is more channels (up to 64x64). Happy new year to all and a big thank you to AudioNarwhal for trying to make us linux users happy! For me, one of the biggest advantages of vendor mode is that there is no sample rate change if I reboot my computer or plug in the ul...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I somehow completely overlooked the fact that a nvme drive in linux spreads irq-processes over all cpu cores/threads and cannot be moved with smp_affinity_list. The nvme driver uses 32 (irq-)queues per default. nvme.poll_queues=X as kernel boot paramter moves those default irq-queues to poll_queues,...

Re: Ultralite AVB

would here be any problems in 2022? Yes, at least with USB out of the box. To be clear, it's still not working 24/7 for me, no matter how much I play around. If you're lucky, one of drumfix' drivers might work for you, probably the best bet is his AVB driver, which only works with a intel i210 NIC....

Re: Ultralite AVB

Working in pipewire 0.3.45 with drumfix' driver in vendor mode and patched kernel, using the "Pro Audio" profile in pavucontrol. Doesn't work ootb, because pipewire seems to initialize some variables wrong (causing not enough memory errors even with low channel count). Also I couldn't chan...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Been using drumfix' driver in vendor mode with jack2 on 5.15.13-zen for some time, although with problems. It took a while to find out that some of my problems were due to my pretty frequent standby/resume, see below. When I switched from 88.2kHz 24 ch to 96kHz 32 ch recently, I had massive problems...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Everything's still working quite good with drumfix's motu-avb module.
The interface set itself to UAC again, giving strange distortion. Took me a while to find out what was wrong.

Re: Ultralite AVB

how does your curl command look like? Since you seem to have a stable setup, would you mind writing a step-by-step guide for this? BTW: I don't use jack with Ardour, instead I use ALSA directly. Would/should that make a difference? I didn't really "use" the interface much lately, and afte...

Re: Ultralite AVB

@shellwalker: For me it did work when I: - Set channel count via curl (check with curl -o if it really was written) - Set channel count via jack/qjackctl - Set channel count in the routing web gui (else, low bandwidth mode?) - Used 32 channels instead of 24 When restarting jack in quick succession, ...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Seems I didn't use vendor mode the right way: My device didn't accept the curl USB2 command for some reason. Curl -o always returned UAC. Powercycling the interface let me set USB2 again. I could use the device with the module loaded with vendor=1 in that constellation with no problems, though? Afte...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I've attached a PKGBUILD for linux-zen 5.12.3 with the changes to card.c/config.c required for vendor mode included (https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=132042#p132042). You still need to install the motu-avb module and run curl manually. I don't really know how to include the module in the P...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Now that i know how to communicate with the device over USB i will add the related command to the driver soon. This sounds like there's a real chance to make it work. Another great find, thank you. Did anybody see https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20936 Essentially leading to this ...

Re: Ultralite AVB

@fohdeesha: great work and great find. The non-ES version unfortunately doesn't have the auto-power jumper. I guess the relevant GPIO is missing as well. Btw, I should've disconnected the ribbon cable way before, now the knobs don't work anymore of course, but the interface (especially the display) ...
