Couple of compilation albums for 10th anniversary
I was a late starter twice - never touched a guitar until I was 19, then never recorded a song until 41. The latter being 10 years ago now. To be honest, I imagined I would have created more - and more good - music in 10 years. But there's still time, if the gods are kind. Anyway, here's two compila...

Re: Roland VT-4 stuck on high gain
As an aside - here's an early version of a song https://soundcloud.com/gobackww/6-to-1 I was hoping to use the vocoder-robot voice in.

Roland VT-4 stuck on high gain
I got this unit mainly for karaoke but I thought I'd see how it performs as a USB audio interface. I'm using Ardour and managing the connections in Catia. The problem is, it's stuck on maximum gain. Reducing the mic sens helps but then I can't hear the effects. I've adjusted the faders, added a limi...

rakarrack-plus
I love Rakarrack but it has its quirks. Interested in hearing from anyone using rakarrack-plus. Are there any repos with this packaged for Ubuntu? Will it ever replace rakarrack in the usual repos? (KX, Ubuntu, Arch, etc).

Modern PC architecture and digital audio
Just some thoughts - corrections, suggestions, idle trolling most welcome. Much of our contemporary PC architecture rests on standards laid down in the 80s. Digital audio and "multimedia" systems came later and still today it's like digital audio was an afterthought. My first PC was built ...

Behringer FCB1010 and Rakarrack
I'm looking at midi foot controllers and was wondering if anyone has used this combo?
I'm mainly interested in setting the 10 switches to a selection of bank presets.
What midi > USB connector would you recommend?

Re: Back and still bad
Just bumping this, since I added a couple more in progress tunes. What I'd like some advice on is vocal delivery, capture and mixing. The song "Shake" has vocal tracks that cross each other and the words become non-decipherable. I've tried hard L/R panning which helped a bit but I'm lost a...

[edit] some works in progress...
Hey all - this year marks 10 years since I recorded my first song. I switched to Linux (DAW wise) in 2018. The well has been a bit dry the past couple of years but the past couple of months have been (relatively) more productive. Would like some feedback on my recent (or no so recent) stuff. I use S...

vanilla Kubuntu 22.10, PipeWire and JACK
I've got a fresh install of Kubuntu 22.10 with the audio subsystem (PipeWire is now default) working on the out of the box settings. Normally at this point I would install the KXStudio repos and the audio metapackage and go from there. But this includes pulseaudio and jack. I don't know if JACK is e...

Sounds very grand - like it's meant for Royalty. What software/hardware/synths/samples/etc did you use?

Re: Libre Music Challenge #4: Listen to the muzak
Hope I'm not too late, been offline for a couple of days. Some interesting tracks, here's how I scored them. I didn't score a couple as I can't see them ... ? +---+---------------------+----------------------+-------+ | | Artist | Track | Score | +---+---------------------+----------------------+---...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #4: Listen to the muzak
Here's my submission. This month's theme was a stroke of luck for me :) This track had mostly come together and I was literally thinking "It sounds like muzak, the melody is naive, the chords are too simple - what can I do?". The answer, I guess is to leave it as it is and submit it here :...
