Re: wrong synth (nstrument) sounding in Rosegarden
CC messages aren't likely to be making any sounds by themselves. However, for whatever reason, Rosegarden default config is to send CC 121 whenever you start or restart which can be annoying to say the least. Try going to preferences -> MIDI and uncheck Allow Reset All Controllers (CC 121). Close an...

Re: wrong synth (nstrument) sounding in Rosegarden
Connect the jack manually but it still doesn't fix the problem, what should I do? Check to make sure that your track is set to send on the correct MIDI channel. The pic shows track 5 set to send and receive on MIDI channel 5. Note that you can set any track to any combination of channels in/out and...

Re: Uncommanded (yoshimi) upset in rosegarden
Just on the off chance that you're not a bot:
1} view image
2} note that all instrument parameters are unchecked
3} adjust your settings accordingly
4} try it again

Re: Uncommanded (yoshimi) upset in rosegarden
Could you please explain what you mean by "uncommanded upset"? The unwanted changes from yoshimi midi channel 8 that is set in rosegarden as soon as the track replay is started or as soon as the track midi channel assignment dropdown list in rosegarden is actioned even without any change ...

Re: Uncommanded (yoshimi) upset in rosegarden
Could you please explain what you mean by "uncommanded upset"? you'll quickly be in need for a merlyn or a magical translator if you try to get in there ;) LOL I just went back and read the previous threads and, as near as I can tell, the issue is with Rosegarden resetting instrument defi...

Re: Beginner starting again
Rosegarden docs (such as they are) here: https://rosegardenmusic.com/resources/ FWIW, Rosegarden automatically creates notation via Lillypond whenever you record or edit MIDI. If you right click on a MIDI track you will see options for editing matrix (std DAW note editing) notation, and events (all ...

Re: linux software to use an akai mpk49 controller - (ableton lite 9 on linux?)
Well, no particular problems so far as I'm still searching a way to use the akai with linux. So far I just made some accoustic recordings with audacity. A couple of suggestions: If you haven't already done so, install jack and qjackctl which will simplify routing/controlling your audio/MIDI signals...

Re: bucket pops VST (LMMS)
It's a drum/rhythm machine. AFAIK, you can't edit w/ piano roll--as pattern editing (as well as start/stop etc.) is done within the plugin interface. You can either use the built-in sounds or route the MIDI output to another synth plugin. I don't use LMMS so I'm clueless as to how automation works t...

Re: JACK / piano setting
You might want to take a look at Rosegarden. https://rosegardenmusic.com/
It is quick and simple to set up/use and doesn't require jack to run.

Re: No sound - once again
May be obvious, but did you make the necessary patch bay connections?
Jack doesn't automagically know how you want things routed so you may need to manually connect some things.
Qjackctl is great for managing jack parameters/connections.

Re: New Free Synth - Helm - Now in Beta
I may be mistaken, bit I think Helm expects user patches/presets to be in ~/.helm
In my case, I keep the music stuff on a separate drive from the OS and use symlinks when necessary.

Re: Qtractor - automate modwheel and pitchwheel
Open your clip in the editor and change the values in the type & parameter tabs.
ie, for the mod wheel: {Note On} {Cotroller} {1 Mod wheel}
