Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

I'm kinda lost what we are trying to do here actually. Do you need a pitch plugin which handles the left and right of a stereo signal differently ? If not, just slap rubberband stereo pitch shifter (ladspa) on a stereo track. I have for example 3 tracks, one mono and two stereo. Each track contains...

It does work.
You'll have to bypass an input.

I still don't understand how to set this up though, I'm not very familiar with Ardour. Could you explain your track configuration please?

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

Any update on this? I don't see why Carla would be necessary, since the LADSPA plugin can be loaded directly in Ardour. If rubberband won't work, I'll get started on developing a plugin using SoundTouch. I tried using 2 mono plugins on a bus, and use them in parallel I don't think that works. So ho...

Do you think latency will be an issue?

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

The latter could be achieved with carla. Just drop couple of rubberband ladspa plugins in it. Set up routing and automation. I have a few questions: ⋅ Why use Carla and not Ardour's internal routing? ⋅ How would I route a mono track and two stereo tracks in such a way that the p...

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

SoundTouch looks like it will work. One thing I've become aware of while playing with various pitch/rate shifting plugin is latency. In Reaper I can change the rate of an individual audio item which also changes its visible length. However when changing the playback rate with a plugin the on-screen...

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

zita-at1 ? Zita a1 isn't a plugin it's an external app. But someone did develop an auto-tune plugin based on Zita A1 which I do use - http://x42-plugins.com/x42/x42-autotune. However as it's FFT based it doesn't maintain phase between mic positions so I use it sparingly. ReaPitch plugin in reaper (...

I'm terrible at picking names for software but if I think of something surprising un-terrible I'll let you know :)

This sounds promising :) let me know if there's is anything I can do to help (probably testing mainly).

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

Perhaps you could learn something from how they do it in Mixxx? That has live pitch control and even automated pitch synch between turntables and it also has a sample section with synchronizing function. Looks like Mixxx uses the SoundTouch library too :) I found there is a plugin that comes with A...

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

I'll have to do some hunting and see if such a plugin exists. I might be able to develop one using DPF, let me see if I can learn about live pitch adjustment. That would be very helpful. I'm still searching online but so far I haven't found a free pitch shifter. The free SoundTouch library has rate...

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

The only thing I can think of is maybe you can find a suitable plugin for rate based pitch shifting, or talk somebody into developing one. I've been thinking about this further and actually this might work. If the pitch shifter had an automation lane then I would be able to adjust the pitch up and ...

But is the Pinephone free? It is only of interest to a potential Librem customer (like me) if it is free.

Re: Looking for a new sample editing tool

Well I've hit a roadblock with Ardour. It doesn't have rate based pitch shifting, or any pitch shifting that I can access via scripting. It does have a pitch shifter but it's too cumbersome to use for editing thousands of samples. Have you tried bringing this up on ardour's irc channel? Somebody th...
