Re: Imago Dei

WOW. This is really great, I like it a lot. Just writing after a first listen on a tablet, but I'm sure I'll re-listen many times. Who I felt reminded of, was the guitar - percussion duo Steve Tibetts & Marc Anderson. In the unlikely case that you never heard of them, I'm pretty sure you'd find them...

broken 5th proximal phalanx blues

So, an IRC friend, and a computer music maker, bumped his pinky hard, was in pain for a night, and when he came back from the doc next morning, said (he's an anatomy nerd): what really happened was that the proximal phalanx snapped in half no painful resetting is necessary, nor did my attempts have ...

Re: Zynspiration

Hey, cool. Drums might profit from variation, synth sounds are definitely cool. Afaik, at least the kxstudio version of LMMS has Carla as an instrument, Carla is a pretty universal plugin host, in this way, you can get external instruments into LMMS, like a different version of Zyn/Yoshimi, Helm, Am...

more 'production' work: Chill-J

Again a (two) afternoon production, this tune doesn't contain any of my own playing, but now that I seem to have discovered a swift workflow for turning small raw musical ideas into presentable songs through editing and programming, it's making me happy to apply these techniques to the creative outp...

Re: Rated Blue "JOY" Album Released!

So, it has taken me a while to go to town and get the streams for offline listening at home, but now I'm finally having the album, and it's a keeper. This is just the second listen, on a tablet, and I haven't even had the opportunity to listen on real speakers, but I didn't want to procrastinate any...

Re: 'blast'

Do you have anything else uploaded now? The link in your sig just gives an "Internal Server Error". I wouldn't mind hearing some more. I think that's fixed now, turns out that the server interpreted links without a protocol header (https://) as relative , so clyp.it/[..] became linuxmusicians.com/c...

Re: 'blast'

Hey, thanx, this is a surprisingly good feedback, and apparantly a testament to the value of freshness, and a workflow with the emphasis on 'flow'. The funny part is how it's my 'work' that's receiving the general praise, when my perception was 'this is play' more than ever before. Ultimately, it's ...

'blast'

Here's another spontaneous one-afternoon-production. Far from perfect, unfinished, noisy mix: http://alooshu.byethost17.com/blast.mp3 , I hope it's making someone tap their feet :)

Re: Who uses jammr.net ?

I still don't have the possibility of online jamming often, due to a shakey and metered mobile connection, but I wanted to share what worked for me, after trying a good number of ninjam (based) clients: I'm running Reaper for linux just to have access to the ReaNinjam plugin that is coming with it, ...

Just a little 'production' work

The story here: a re-discovered musical friend posted this raw guitar sketch with the words "still lacking one fundamental part before I can consider this fully composed", and I took a few sunny hours allowing me to run the laptop, and cut out a riff here and a riff there, to show how fast a few sui...

Re: Conflict (Metal Track)

Hey nice, leaves me still hungry when it's finished at 3:05 :) Listening on small device speakers, and even there, the cymbals are rather too far back than standing out. My favorite transition gem is at 2:20, the guitars following could maybe make a little more space - but all of this is in the gree...

Re: Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking

Wow, thanks everybody for the splendid feedback! I'm feeling especially flattered by the compliments for the guitar sound/tone, since all of it is done by free & opensource lv2 plugins, but a lot of tweaking has gone into setting them up. The entire setup is up for downloads in my previous post, and...

Re: Android Audio Apps that don't require access to Play Store

F-Droid is having at least 2 apps - Aurora Store and Yalp Store - that aim at faking play accounts and getting stuff from google play itself. F-Droid apps I've been using myself, apart from a metronome and a sight reading trainer, are Slider Synth and Drum On, which in its recent version, can backgr...

Re: Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking

This is great fun, it makes me think of some of the early Pink Floyd stuff. Yea, going slow seems to facilitate more portentous or lyrical playing - although that wasn't planned for, I merely wanted to do my guest a favour & give him a phone recording to take home. And here are the promised Carla f...
