Re: CLI midi player with play pause & tempo change

I tried jpmidi. To use it 1) I will have to write an "expect" like routine to control it from my program as-is. Clunky but Doable. 2) Unfortunately for this application I must also be able to send the midi directly to a midi hardware device so the jack midi needs to be downgraded to stand-alone "dir...

CLI midi player with play pause & tempo change

I have been trying to find a command line midi player that would pause, do tempo changes and skip forward backward

Anyone have an idea of such CLI tool

Before I have to write one, I better make sure it doesnt exist.
I dont want to go through all the effort for nothing.

Thanks

Re: Midi data capture application

Thanks for the recommendations. I dont want to send ready made midi. I want to send custom commands. From what you suggest it seems it is keyboard note value midi only. I cannot use the a2jmidid alsa daemon as it causes too much trouble, so jack midi wont work for me. I loaded midi-ox under wine and...

Re: Midi Pad Controller with built in midi command edit (programmable)

thank you all for the kind suggestions. I have the AKAI fire but could not figure out how to program a pad to send a custom command when pressed. The problem is that the commands are multiple midi messages, e.g. changing a patch on an XS8 Synth. This requires (MSB LSB Value) to be sent in succession...

Midi Pad Controller with built in midi command edit (programmable)

I posted this on a formidable midi group, but received just crickets. Maybe the Linux Audio community knows the answer, so here it is again. I need a midi pad controller that is configurable for custom midi commands per pad. To put it another way, the pad controller needs to have on-board midi messa...

Re: Midi data capture application

This is an old thread of mine, but I have still some problems on Linux. aseqdump can only receive midi signals. I cannot send midi signals. In patchage I can see that aseqdump made a recieve midi connection from my Motif when I executed $] asequdump -p 36:0 using the identifiers from #]aseqdump -l 0...

Jack and pulse works absolutely great here. You just need to configure it properly.

Re: [Solved] Alsamixer only showing 6 in/out when 8/8 expected

That is exactly what I am doing, Its not just a nice gui, it shows each in/out individually and not stereo'd which is completely troublesome for large audio interfaces with alsamixer and it actually shows all the io compared to alsamixer. It is fast and clear to set your clocks and you even have a "...

Re: cadence pulsebridge not working

As I mentioned in another thread my responses will not be timely. I have a little time now. I gave up on cadence and qjackctl. was nice for a while then like you experienced, they could not keep up and started botching things. I do everything CLI now and my problems disappeared. Can you respond with...

Re: Alsamixer only showing 6 in/out when 8/8 expected

Hi merlyn, Take a look at qashctl Soooo much better than alsamixer and it shows everything correctly which alsamixer botches up completely. On my system it correctly shows all my adat too and every in/out individually and 18in 20 out, no sweat. It shows exactly that all my file edits to get all 18/2...

Re: [SOLVED] Disable pulseaudio Jack source but keep Sink running.

you are welcome, yes I am busy installing a backup system on a newer distro while the older one works flawless. It is time consuming upgrading an audio workstation. If you try MX you wont be disappointed. Once installed just get rid of the vertical panel it has default on the desktop and create your...

Re: Alsamixer only showing 6 in/out when 8/8 expected

I wished I could cut alsamixer out completely as you did and have sound just straight from alsa to jack. Uninstalling alsa-utils did not work, but since you have that preferred situation I will have to dig deeper into it and make that work to remove it completely. You are right that it is an unneces...

Re: Alsamixer only showing 6 in/out when 8/8 expected

Jeez it is a mess, but I guess you are right. Dont know how I will untangle this mess. Dont really need alsamixer as I use CLI to do everything anyway. But the thing is completely broken and cannot be relied on it seems after this. Unless you know how to untangle it, I would rather call and abolishm...
