Re: New project build!

Hey folks, it's been a while! I've been busy putting my photography career together, but getting back into music just lately. We played a few gigs over the summer, but have been on hiatus just lately, just trying to put some tracks together for an EP. Anyway, I have been working on the 'piano' - I'v...

Re: AVLinux 2018 and UEFI - a warning!

Sorry, slightly off topic, but getting flashbacks to a week of UEFI nightmare I had when I tried to install KXStudio onto a brand new Lenovo laptop. I've always had really good clean hardware install and experience with Lenovo and Linux distros. Also generally Dell and HP, and ASUS/Acer. The problem...

Hi there, yes it all came down to the wrong MIDI cables!

For live looping and live performances, why not add Mixxx to your settup? That has a great looper in it (and more nice features) and is jack competible. Ah okay nice thank you I shall take a look. Am particularly interested in software for live performance, thanks! I've had a quick look at Sooper L...

Re: New project build!

We played live for the first time this week using this basic setup! I'm using the bits that are intended to be built into the piano: left the piano at home and used a keyboard stand. Snag is - which I knew all along, is that it's going to be difficult to get the piano to every gig! It's intended for...

Re: Where Am I Going Wrong? Audio interface? DAW? Jack/ALSA? No sound...

I also discovered that it is possible that some MIDI cables are not all wired the same... so I purchased some new MIDI cables to be sure, as I was getting inconsistent results for wiring things differently. I don't know if it still happens, but some audio DIN cables were sold as MIDI ones, and they...

Re: Where Am I Going Wrong? Audio interface? DAW? Jack/ALSA? No sound...

Okay so I've been playing and learning a lot in the intervening months playing with KX Studio. I haven't really set up for recording, and I have never really used just a DAW or software sequencer just by itself. I prefer a tactile keyboard and to play live/on the fly. KX Studio in a way has taken th...

Re: KXStudio user - live and studio - UK

In the gap between posting I have been exploring KX Studio.

Wow. Just wow, what an incredible system!

Oh yes it is the most rewarding computing experience I have ever had! There is so much here straight out of the box.

Re: New project build!

Yes and it's also pretty light as well. The aim is to be able to wheel this out as one unit for gigs!

Re: New project build!

Super fun, I'm loving the colored keys instead of black. Keep us posted on how this project goes! Yeah I've wanted an upright piano to hollow out for a while now, to make into a MIDI 'music box'. However, if you've ever seen inside an acoustic upright piano you'd know they are a nightmare! The insi...

Re: New project build!

I've then got a 61 key MIDI keyboard to go in the place where the previous keyboard was. IMG_2877.JPG And attached the MIDI a Roland JV 1010 IMG_2880.JPG Next I'll fix some kind of rack mount inside the piano and cut holes in the front and place the Roland and other modules inside it. So, just the s...

New project build!

My new exciting project build!

I picked up a faulty upright electric piano. I intend to use the casing to host my hardware. Then I stick some wheels on it and roll this thing out and use it for gigs!

I've removed the 61 keyboard and the internal electrics.

Re: Where Am I Going Wrong? Audio interface? DAW? Jack/ALSA? No sound... [SOLVED]

I think you will definitely need some kind of a DAW to keep track of loop data. If you are new to JACK then I suggest you read this tutorial . Basically, an audio from your hardware goes into the system JACK input and it's up to you to route it somewhere else. Hi there, Thanks for the reply. I have...
