Re: Plugin Loader

Axel-Erfurt If the terminal is only required for error messages, you could also use subprocess.check_output and display error messages in a wx MessageBox. subproces.check_output actually blocks until the process exits, and raises an error if the return code is non-zero: the caller is not able to ac...

Re: Performance Setup with Pop!_OS | Pipewire | Bitwig

ElSonador In addition to the wonderful rtcqs script that tobiasch mentioned, I would investigate a couple of possibilities: Do you have any background processes running intermittently? E.g., some kind of remote file synchronization, anti-virus software, etc. Does your computer have an idle-but-not-...

Re: QTractor or ZRythm

Re: Mixbus I'm a happy user, although I do tend to track stuff in Ardour, where I want less in the way. The real win from my point of view for Mixbus is workflow: Every Mixbus track has a trim control, built-in HP/LP filter section, EQ, and a choice of three pretty workable compressors, visible by d...

@cabsi Please change the title to indicate Kubuntu -- support for the main Ubuntu jammy distribution has two more years to go.

Re: Introduce myself

Welcome! Glad you are finding answers here.

The YT video was cool -- like bagpipes, I don't have any ambition to play a didgeridoo, but I enjoy watching / listening to folks who take it on.

Awesome report! The interaction between psycho-acoustics and the placebo effect is a source of nearly endless pain, and here you've showed us a path out of the maze: test it!

Re: Cable app now has side-by-side connections manager

@magill many thanks for taking the bit between your teeth and running away with Cable. Not only are you doing the lifting on the development side (or, as you humble-brag, faking it with LLM prompts): you are also responding in a timely way with grace to feedback from sometimes-disgruntled users, whi...

Re: Nattive Acces 2 can run out of box with wine 10

For those playing along at home (and affected by the Wine >= 9.22 issues when using yabridge) this is the issue to track: if you can try the branch linked in the related PR ( binaries here ) and report your success or lack thereof on that issue, you will have done your part toward helping resolve it.

Gps > I hear something I really like, and think how hard can it be? (in LMMS) > > On the bright site, I often learn a lot from these "mistakes". If the sound of strummed guitar is at all important to you (more than getting one song out of your ears), spending a small amount (anywhere from...

Re: Pipewire Pro Audio profile

I don't see anything in your description which suggests an obvious misconfiguration on your part. I'm only guessing here, as I don't have the device, but the symptom you describe could be related to Pipewire's willingness to resample to match client's desired / expected sample rates, which could in ...

Re: the Yamaha FGDP-30/50 experience

The USB MIDI host bit seems like a rabbit hole. Given that the device doesn't require a driver for the Mac, it should be negotiating at least the basic "here I am" handshake with the USB host (your computer). Can you try running dmesg -w (might need sudo dmesg -w ) at a console and then pl...

Re: Gauging interest for a Music Theory software for Linux

Seems like a really cool tool! I'm not totally sure if it fits me, but I do have some history of buying music software with native Linux support without letting such a consideration get in my way -- I really appreciate having developers take this community seriously.

Re: Anyone know of an audio interface with more than 8 “analog” inputs?

bluebell My ADA8200 works flawlessly for many years now. FWIW, I've been recording routinely through inputs to my Behringer ADA 8000, routed via ADAT into my gen1 Focusrite Scarlett 18I20, for nigh on five years now, with zero issues. I've literally left it switched off for weeks or months at a pop...

Re: Linux support for Scarlett 4th Gen 16i16, 18i16, and 18i20

FWIW (and that ain't enough to buy geoffrey the urn and more of coffee he deserves): The choice Focusrite has made to give geoffrey hardware to support his work on both the UI and the kernel driver for their hardware is the only reason I have to consider buying a newer version of Focusrite hardware ...
