Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 ISO update released!

Impostor Except for the fact that budget mobo's tend to come with only one or two M.2 slots. I only have one such slot, and pack three additional internal hdd's. If you've got USB3 ("blue") ports available, I would try benchmarking a USB3 SSD against your internal HDDs. In my experience, ...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 ISO update released!

Hi, lots of free contiguous disk space should be a priority, as lots of audio software needs it to run efficiently or properly, and so does the OS. Plus your spinning drives will last longer not having to bounce around in search of epmpty parking spots for data. SSDs are their own species, but I le...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

GMaq If Qtractor is optionally installed it pulls in jackd (why is that a hard dependency, perhaps it should be a 'suggested' dependency?) this is very annoying if you have created and set up the system linker to seamlessly use PipeWire's JACK and then get another Audio server dragged in that shoul...

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

@novalix

At least on debian proper it is not necessary to upgrade the whole system to testing or unstable. A relatively recent version of pipewire is installable through the backports repo.

Hmm, I looked for it in backports and failed to find it. Likely PEBKAC. Thanks for the steer!

Re: The Korg NanoControl only responds to a double button press

I have some memory that the Korg NanoKontroler2 setup makes a distinction between "momentary" and "toggle" modes for some buttons. Perhaps a quick look through the manual for those terms would enlighten?

Re: Pipewire questions, first time in use ever

Tippe It's debian based. It's called KLV which stands for Kennel Linux Versions. The command: pw-jack clementine is working properly. What version of pipewire is installed? E.g., $ dpkg-query --show pipewire Debian stable ("bookworm") ended up shipping (because Gnome decided to depend on ...

Re: RFC: emulating Vienna Ensemble Pro with qmidinet, zita-nj2, zita-j2n, etc.

Ugh, necro-bumping my own thread! But anyway, just wanted to report that the most recent version of AudioGridder includes experimental support for running the "server" (the part doing work on another host than the one where your DAW is running) under Linux: https://audiogridder.com/latest-...

Re: Digital Crackle with USB Audio Interfaces

mnemonic But at the moment it seems only the MOTU 828es is still having problems. The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and also my Sennheiser BTD 600 Bluetooth-via-USB headphones work perfectly. Very interesting result. If I were to troubleshoot this, I would try taking the various bits out of the chain, e...

Re: Dual Keys & Split Keys with QSynth

noedig I thought that Jack programs would work with Pipewire without modification, since Pipewire provides a Jack compatible server. Note that some users (Debian bookworm / bullseye and related) are going to be running an old version of Pipewire (pre the 1.0 release which added true pro-audio suppo...

Re: What's everyone using to sequence drums?

Note that sfizz does not support the hichan / lowchan SFZ opcodes by design. These two opcodes are required to have different per-channel sample selections in a given patch See this discussion.

Might not be relevant for the OP's question.

Re: Best way to Merge two MIDI outs (piano and drum set) into ONE interface input?

777funk I have an S30 (61 key version of the S80). Is it possible to somehow run the drum set MIDI out into the keyboard and then run both signals into my interface MIDI in? I'd like to be able to have the drummer and keyboardist feed into the interface at the same time. I'm not sure the model(s) y...

Re: rtcqs links down?

Audiojunkie Unless things have changed, I believe rtcqs looks for a group called, “Audio”. That means that it will fail that check if the group in your distro is named anything other than “Audio”. With 600+ distros available, it is highly unlikely that the script could catch every realtime group na...

Re: Digital Crackle with USB Audio Interfaces

I'd first try to isolate the problem by plugging the audio interface directly into a USB 2.0 (or 3.0) port on the laptop. If that works, then you know that the issue is with the docking station. I've had very mixed luck running any interface even through a powered USB hub in the past, and so I alway...

Re: Issues Running EZKeys 2 on Linux with Wine

bluesrocker Attempting to open EZKeys 2 from the desktop icon or menu gives a momentary spinning icon and then no further response. Can you run it from the command line and see if there is any useful output there? E.g., here is how I would run the Spitfire library manager at the bash prompt (I use ...
