Re: Spitfire Audio free sample libraries

bananaplug : This is exciting - if i can get Spitfire stuff running on linux i might finally be able to be done with windows for good! I'm on Ubuntu Studio 19.04. I have the Spitfire app running via wine and downloaded some sound libraries. However I can't seem to get the plugin recognized in Carla...

Re: virtual-playing-orchstra with Ardour on Ubuntu Studio 19.10

I wondered about using Lua to set up the session, rather than loading it from a template: I think there is a facility for prompting for e.g. a file-path to VPO. I could imagine setting up the tracks quickly in a for loop, but the panning / balance / reverb sends would be harder.

Re: virtual-playing-orchstra with Ardour on Ubuntu Studio 19.10

Michael Willis Thanks very much for providing this template! I have been able to work with it after tweaking my system (symlinking VPO to `/opt/VirtualPlayingOrchestra`, but had to recreate the `Panagement 2` plugin on the trumpet track, as your version has it installed as `mac-vst` rather than `lv...

Re: Come Walk With Me

Nice work! The tune and the setting are a nice frame for the lyric / vocals. Love the clarinet as the second "voice" here.

Re: Mixbus32C v6

The dual-mode montoring (hear both the on-dist and the recorded channel) mode is worth the upgrade price, all by itself. Anybody know how much of the MB32 6.0 feature set is landed in Ardour git?

You finally moved a little away from that malware stuffed load of shit. Congratulations! That was far from a helpful comment, Alex. Please give space to those whose development efforts enrich your life to make decisions you might not agree with. Moving to a new code-hosting / bug-reporting platform...

Re: New Dragonfly Reverb beta release v2.9.0

Hi y'all, try out the update to Dragonfly Plate: Release 2.9.1-beta. This one allows you to pick from three plate algorithms called Simple, Nested, and Tank. The tank algorithm is based on STRev, and was used in the previous release (2.9.0-beta). The Simple and Nested algorithms are two variations ...

Re: QSampler standalone, no "JACK" option

looks like that it's linuxsampler that was built without JACK support.

qsampler as client only shows the drivers that linuxsampler server provides. no more, no less.
Maybe so. I've pretty much sworn off LinuxSampler at this point, given that
sfizz covers 90%+ of what I want.

Re: recording EQ, compressors, etc plugins

I'm currently recording stuff I'd like to compress on the way in using an FMC Really Nice Compressor unit, tacked onto the output from a Golden Age Project Pre-73 preamp. If I needed to compress a bunch of inputs simultaneously, I would look into something like the Focusrite Scarlett OctoPre Dynamic...

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

I hope AVLinux still will include linuxsampler since that is still needed for Gigasampler files. I understand the need: I have a couple of Gig-only instruments. OTOH, all the ones I use except for the FlameStudios ones are easily replaced by the utterly awesome Pianoteq instruments: I'm astonished ...

Re: Thoughts on what audio interface to get

As someone working as a professional free/libre/open-source software developer for more than twenty years now, I can sympathize with the developers at manufacturers like Focusrite: they would likely be pleased to support Linux users, but can't justify devoting limited resources to it. I don't think ...

Interesting parallel with my wife's experience as an independent visual artist: she sells through a couple of outlets, including the arts center she rents her main studio space from, but finds that the "best" sales (bigger, more expensive paintings / works) come only from people with whom she has bu...

Re: AV Linux 2020.1.14 Release Candidate for testing only

Glenn, thank you for all your work on AVL: I can confirm that the RC works well on my seven-year-old System 76 laptop with a Scarlett Solo 3rd gen interface. If you are looking at including curated soundfonts, maybe consider adding SFizz https://github.com/sfztools/sfizz ? The 'develop' branch has L...

Re: recording EQ, compressors, etc plugins

FWIW, if the plugins you want to record through are low enough latency not to interfere with the performance, you can use an "Audio Bus" in Ardour to hold the plugins: set its input to your hardware. Then, for each track you want to record, set its input to the output of the bus, and record a test: ...

Re: Orchestra Template for Ardour

Aarrgh! I've just been displaced from my home studio for an undefined length of time! I did get sfizz ad VPO working minimally on my studio machine at home before leaving town, and so would have been in a great place to test your template, if only I were there. Nevertheless, thank you so much for yo...
