Re: DrumGizmo UI missing? [Ardour]

I would suspect that your installed version of Ardour was built with different libc (or related) libraries than those used to build DG.

Re: Playing a sampled Instrument in 2021 – is it really that complicated?

Where are your samples (the actual WAV files) stored? Most folks using "large" sample libraries (commercial ones like those used by pro film composers) suggest putting them on an SSD, rather than on a spinning HDD. The load times are directly proportional to the disk access time, and with ...

Re: setbfree does not play all my pedal-board notes

FWIW, I just fired up setBfree, connected my keyboard, and was able to play pedal notes (using channel 3) from C1 to G3.

Re: VMPK and sound

@sue FWIW, the piano I use for everyday work is Modartt's Pianoteq: https://www.modartt.com/pianoteq . It is proprietary software, but runs natively on Linux, and offers a wide range of choices of sampled/modeled instruments, including a number of "big" pianos as well as non-piano instrume...

Re: VMPK and sound

@sue What sounds are you looking to make? If you'd just like a nice piano, and you'd rather just load an SF2 into VMPK, search for "salamander piano sf2". Maybe this link? https://sites.google.com/view/hed-sound ... r-c5-light

Re: Strange behavior with SMDrums loaded in liguidsfz or sfizz

An .sfz file is just text (see https://sfzformat.com/). Can you look at the file in a text editor (or even with "less") and see if anything pops out?

Re: shimmer reverb

From a brief glance at the search results page, it looks like a octave pitch shifter in front of a really long-tail reverb gets you at least part way there.

The UbuntuStudio release announcement for 20.04[1] previews that 20.10 will include Plasma, citing its superior integration for graphics artists and photographers. It then goes on: For audio production, nothing in terms of resource usage changes. If the display compositor proves to be problematic, a...

Re: Jazz, Brushes Drum Kit

The DrumGizmo "DRSKit" has samples for brushes, which it refers to as "whiskers": https://drumgizmo.org/wiki/doku.php?id=kits:drskit. I haven't actually tried using it for "stirring soup," though.

Sadly, the project was abandoned
Looks like the most recent commit was about a year ago. Maybe it's "not dead, just resting."

Re: Automatic tempo detection/beat matching for midi?

PieterPenninckx So I was wondering if there is software that takes a midi file and produces a midi file that sounds the same as the original, but has the tempo in the midi file changed so that the beats align with the note starts. The feature you are referring to is called "MIDI quantization&q...

gennargiu I hope that in the near future they can develop a native vst version for gnu linux, As with most makers of proprietary software, the apparent market for Linux versions isn't likely to make the investment worthwhile. I have bought some of their instruments (BBCSO Core, the Originals series...
