Re: lexicon omega: 2 channels instead of 4 ?
I subscribed to the alsa-users mailing list and posted a request for help there. I used the `alsa-info.sh` script to collect diagnostics and attached it to the email. As a result, I'm awaiting moderator approval to post the message since it exceeds the maximum message size. BTW, I see a bug against ...

Re: lexicon omega: 2 channels instead of 4 ?
I have the same problem. But here is what I have found so far: I have used Lexicon Omega with Ubuntu Studio for years without any problems until I upgraded to Ubuntu Studio 20.04. After tryting diferent versions of Ubuntu Studio I notticed that the 2 channels instead of 4 issue started with kernel ...

Re: lexicon omega: 2 channels instead of 4 ?
Has anyone made any progress on this? I also have an Omega and I'm no longer seeing 4 channels. I'm on NixOS, so it seems unlikely to me that this is a distro-specific problem, unless anyone has evidence that it is. Where do we think the problem is? My uninformed guess is that maybe some kernel modu...

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
Ah, OK. I can't vouch for "pro," but I've definitely been doing the "audio" part. It's never really _not_ worked for me, hence my bemusement. Um, yeah. It's admittedly awkward, but "pro-audio" seems to be how people are distinguishing between typical desktop audio func...

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
Bump Has there been anymore progress made on any of this? How are we doing? Progress on what, in particular? Do you have some expectation that somebody's working on a specific task for you? Oh, no. Certainly not. I didn't mean to give that impression. I just wondered if anyone, anywhere was current...

Has anyone made any progress with this? I'm dedicating a separate box and diving in again.

Well, catia, at least, is an open issue: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/55574

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
Well, decoupling jack from pulseaudio lost me RT and did nothing to help with clients that could not connect; no benefit that I can discern. I think I need to compile a matrix of jack clients and determine which ones are problematic and which ones are not. Off-hand, I know: I can use ardour, hydroge...

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
I distribute my config across a few files and then import them. I've attached the main one, workstation_av.nix , though I had to append a .txt extension because this forum asserted that .nix isn't a valid extension. Awesome. I really appreciate it. Other than that file, I do import pkgs.pulseaudioF...

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
Pulseaudio has always been a thorn in my side, too, honestly. I work around it by letting it have the onboard audio by default, and mostly use Jack in combination with the outboard interface. I'm on a laptop at the moment, though, so YMMV. That would be just fine. I'm using an Lexicon Lambda or som...

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
Bumping this... I've had great success on Debian for over 20 years, but I too have made the jump to NixOS and I'm having a very tough time. Jamesf, could we compare notes? Absolutely! It's a steep learning curve, so it's no surprise you're finding it rough. I can't post my current configs because I...

Re: Akai LPD8 -- Any users?
OK, I got it working. I had to go the wine route and use the proprietary editor app to initialize things; I still feel a little dirty. :) While I was at it, I dumped the sysex for future reference. But then I noticed that the exe installation includes text preset files and I'll probably just use tha...

Akai LPD8 -- Any users?
Hi,
I just got an Akai LPD8 from ebay. The pads work, but I'm having troubles with the rotary controllers; they don't seem to emit any MIDI whatsoever.
Does anybody have any experience with this device?
Thanks
