Re: Ubuntu Studio forum closed

I have not been on this or the Ubuntu Studio forum for long while, nor on my music system. I saw that the new release of Ubuntu Studio was out, with the KDE Plasma desktop. I looked for the forum to see how it is being received.. the UbuntuStudio forum is GONE! I really like xcfe, there is nothing I...

Re: JAPA - spectrum analyzer

Does anyone know if there's a manual or something?? I just started using it - I keep notes, here's what I have: HowTo us japa ~~~~ 06:33 PM Wednesday 24 Feb 2021 ~~~~b]channel gain[/b] The short description is $ info japa I opened QjackCtl , and ran it with what ever defaults I normally use. $ japa...

Re: Spectrograms and Spectral Analyzers in Linux

The 2D spectrogram widget display on tribute looks like it isolates bands: it was messy because the signal was complex.
Thanks!

Spectrograms and Spectral Analyzers in Linux

This is an astonishing demo of overtone singing, and I wonder if there is any Linux software that is close to this analyzer. At minute 3:20 she introduces the spectrogram, at 16:30 the final demo TEDxGenova | Anna-Maria Hefele Some of her talk included MRI of her sound track, and obviously that was ...

Where can I find a list l of the jack_ utilities

I'm not exactly a newb, but this is certainly a newbie question! I have stumbled upon and used jack_lsp, jack_rec, jack_iodelay and probably others, but I can not find a tutorial, or even a list with brief descriptions. I don't even know how many are on my system! Wait, google found compgen -c | gre...

Re: CALF Audio plug-in

Qtractor worked where Audacity did not. It even worked with rakarrack. I do not think the interface of Qtractor is at all intuitive, but I do know "it is a poor workman who blames his tools".
Thanks for the advice.

rakarrak problems

I tried rakarrak and as I said in https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=128253#p128253 I had nothing but trouble with it: it crashed, stuttered, I could only get a few plugins to work, and the sound was poor, and Yoshimi had to be restarted often, it just froze. Yoshimi has been very reliable o...

Re: CALF Audio plug-in

uns4ph3 - I had to google Destructive vs. Non-Destructive editing , and I still do not understand what that has to do with the available input connections. I wanted to make a recording of the sound produced by the calf plugin set. I expected Audacity to be JACK friendly, or take input from the Pulse...

Re: CALF Audio plug-in

I'm running the latest version of Ubuntu Studio on a very capable Dell quad core i5 system. I was exploring effects processing today, and after having rakarrack crash over and over and generally sounding cheesy, I tried the "calf plugin pack for Jack" and I am really excited about what i c...

Re: extending parts

Spamatica - Thank you for taking the time to post an answer, I can see how much you have going on in this project. Perhaps I will soon get through the learning curve and be able to help others! Very useful help - most of your tips were not intuitive, and I did not discover them when thrashing about....

Re: extending parts

Spamatica Also, now it works on wave parts, which was the main reason I worked on this. Previously it was not possible to extend an audio part beyond where it was cut, now it can be extended as long as there is more audio data.t I'm pretty new here, and walked right into this problem, I spent anothe...

Where can I find detailed documentation for wave editor?

I am having difficulty with the track editing tools. I am a newb to using arranger, and have found the tutorial videos, and looked in the manual, but have not found information for the wave editor. My project is to import a wave file that a friend recorded, use the editor to determine and set the BP...
